The Staff Pad is proud to partner with a reputed client focused law firm in Denver, CO and we are seeking an experienced Senior Paralegal to support growing family law and criminal law practices.

In this role you will be working closely with attorneys, communicating with clients, managing deadlines, preparing legal documents, and helping matters move efficiently from opening through resolution.

What You’ll Do

Key Responsibilities

  • Support attorneys handling active family law and/or criminal law matters
  • Manage case files from opening through resolution
  • Prepare, organize, and file pleadings, motions, notices, disclosures, and other legal documents
  • Manage Colorado state court e-filing and court-specific filing requirements
  • Calendar hearings, filing deadlines, discovery deadlines, and other case milestones
  • Monitor court orders, notices, and case developments
  • Draft correspondence, discovery requests and responses, subpoenas, affidavits, chronologies, and case summaries
  • Organize and review financial records, discovery materials, exhibits, evidence, and client documents
  • Prepare attorneys for hearings, mediations, depositions, settlement conferences, and trials
  • Assemble exhibit notebooks, hearing materials, witness files, and trial binders
  • Communicate regularly with clients regarding documents, deadlines, scheduling, and case status
  • Coordinate with courts, opposing counsel, experts, witnesses, law enforcement agencies, and other outside parties
  • Help identify missing information, deadlines, and matters requiring immediate attention
  • Enter time accurately and promptly in accordance with firm billing procedures
  • Help maintain organized, complete, and current electronic case files
  • Work collaboratively with attorneys, paralegals, legal assistants, and firm leadership
  • Mentor or provide guidance to less-experienced support staff when appropriate

What We’re Looking For

Candidates with family law, criminal law, or both are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications & Experience

  • A paralegal certificate or relevant degree
  • 5+ years of paralegal experience with significant family law and/or criminal law experience
  • Experience supporting attorneys in Colorado state courts
  • Experience independently managing a busy caseload
  • Experience with discovery and preparing cases for hearings and trials
  • Experience with Colorado e-filing systems, legal practice-management, document management and time keeping systems
  • Experience handling complex family law discovery and criminal case evidence
  • Experience mentoring junior paralegals or legal assistants
  • Experience supporting multiple attorneys simultaneously

  • Strong understanding of court filing procedures and litigation deadlines
  • Strong drafting, editing, proofreading, and document-preparation skills
  • Strong calendaring deadline-management, written and verbal communication skills
  • Detail-oriented professional with strong follow-through and a collaborative, team-first approach
  • The ability to prioritize urgent matters while managing long-term deadlines
  • Sound judgment and the ability to recognize when an issue should be escalated to an attorney
  • Comfort working in a performance-oriented environment with billable-hour expectations
