Description

Park Services is hiring for one full-time, non-exempt Senior Parks Technician to join the Mowing Crew. This position is regularly scheduled from 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m, Monday - Friday. Hours could vary based on weather and department needs.

Interviews are tentatively scheduled for the week of July 6.

The City and County of Broomfield is looking for a professionally motivated, enthusiastic individual to assist with maintaining irrigation to over 850 irrigated acres at various sport complexes, municipal buildings, parks and greenbelts.

Total Compensation Package

Salary Range: $30.83 - $37.69/hour

The incumbent performs semi-skilled and skilled work in a lead worker capacity in the maintenance of the undeveloped and developed park areas. Work at this level is further characterized by specialized knowledge and skills used in the accomplishment of assignments. His/her primary responsibilities include performing a variety of semi- skilled and skilled tasks of routine to moderate difficulty related to the City and Countys parks function and providing information and assistance to City and County staff and the public.

Essential Required Tasks/Examples of Duties

Mowing: Prepares and implements a weekly work schedule. May make modifications to existing equipment for adaptation to department's needs. Assist in major maintenance and repairs of equipment. Observes and enforces safety procedures. Maintains a variety of records and prepares requests for new equipment, materials and supplies.

  • Perform semi-skilled and skilled park maintenance duties in a lead worker capacity.

  • Supervises and participates in the preparation, development, and maintenance of park areas.

  • Recruit, schedule, train, supervise and prepare performance evaluations on lower-level division employees.

  • Prepares and implements weekly work schedules.

  • Maintain a variety of records relating to maintenance, construction, and inspection of parks and facilities.

  • May assume responsibility for division activities during absence of supervisor.

  • Assists in the operation of snow equipment during inclement weather, and is available for snow control duties after hours and on weekends.

  • Required to work special events on holidays, weekends, and outside normally scheduled working hours.

Minimum Qualifications

Education

  • High School Diploma/GED - required

Experience

  • 2 years experience required in construction, maintenance, and repair activities within the respective maintenance division.

  • 1 year experience preferred in supervision of seasonal labor, volunteers, or part time positions.

Years of related experience may be substituted for required education, however education cannot be substituted for the necessary work experience. Candidates must meet the minimum required years of work experience.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (in addition to above requirements):

New hires must, as a condition of employment, pass the following pre-offer and post-offer/hire processes: in-person or virtual interviews, reference checks, and background checks, which may include local police check and sex-offender registry.

If this position is required to drive a CCOB vehicle a DMV check will be required.

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.

  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and safe driving record for continued employment.

  • Pre-employment physical.

Working Conditions

  • Physical demands are described as medium (exert up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force frequently, and up to 10 lbs. of force constantly to move objects)

  • Duties require a full range of physical motion and activities including manual labor

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, ability to adjust focus, color vision, and peripheral vision
