Order#: NY1548219 Senior Payroll Clerk The Town of Webster is recruiting for the full time benefits eligible position of Senior Payroll Clerk. Candidates who meet the minimum qualifications or who have held permanent competitive civil service status and are eligible for transfer or reinstatement under Civil Service Rules will be considered. This is a senior level clerical position responsible for the independent performance of payroll and benefits functions, maintenance of records, and completion of various reports. This position does not supervise any positions but may work with lower-level clerical staff for cross training purposes. This is a 40-hour work week position, Monday - Friday. Typical Duties: (including but not limited to:) Oversees agency payroll and time sheets including performing various calculations and recalculations, entering time and payments, making adjustments, running and reviewing error, verification, and change reports, and running distribution reports; Maintains employee master data for existing employees and new hires, such as name, title, bargain unit, wages, and deductions for dues, savings or retirement; Reviews computerized payroll reports for accuracy, files various payroll reports with State, Federal and retirement agencies and provides payroll information to auditors; Enrolls employees in health and dental benefits; Reviews unemployment and workers compensation claims. Preferred Qualifications: Previous payroll and benefits processing experience. Familiarity with public sector benefits and pay practices. Attention to detail, independent judgement, strong computer skills and analytical thinking. Minimum Qualifications: high school diploma or GED plus EITHER: (A) 5 years experience posting financial or accounting records, or entering and editing data on payroll records; OR, (B) Associate's degree in Accounting or Finance plus 3 years experience as defined in (A) above; OR (C) Associate's degree plus 4 years experience as defined in (A) above; OR (D) Bachelors degree plus 2 years experience as defined in (A) above; OR, (E) An equivalent combination of education and experience as defined by A, B, C and D above.
