Payroll Specialist

We’re partnering with a mission-driven nonprofit organization in Houston that is seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to join its Human Resources team. This is a hands-on role supporting payroll, benefits administration, and employee onboarding for approximately 100 employees.

What You’ll Do:



  • Process bi-weekly and semi-monthly payroll for approximately 100 employees.

  • Review, audit, and correct employee timecards to ensure payroll accuracy.

  • Prepare onboarding paperwork related to payroll and benefits.

  • Administer employee benefits through Employee Navigator, including coordinating with the benefits broker to ensure new hires are properly enrolled.

  • Process quarterly employee bonus payments.

  • Manage wage garnishments and employment verification requests.

  • Process 403(b) retirement plan contributions.

  • Reconcile payroll reports and provide payroll support to the Accounting team.

  • Respond to employee payroll and benefits questions while maintaining confidentiality.


What We’re Looking For:



  • 3+ years of payroll processing experience.

  • Experience processing both bi-weekly and semi-monthly payroll.

  • Knowledge of payroll regulations, garnishments, payroll reporting, and benefits administration.

  • Experience with Employee Navigator or a similar benefits administration platform is preferred.

  • Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational and time management skills.

  • Recent experience using Paylocity is strongly desired.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.

  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines.
