Under the general direction of the Branch/Service Manager, the position of Senior Personal Banker is responsible for demonstrating expert level proficiency in processing all new account transactions; assisting customers in their selection of various accounts and financial services; cross-selling the Bank's products and services; opening, maintaining and closing of all account types; performing branch clerical duties; promoting business for the Bank by maintaining good customer relations and referring customers to appropriate staff for new services. The Senior Personal Banker is cross-functional and may also perform teller duties, such as receiving checks, cash, and payments for deposits to savings and checking accounts, cashing checks and processing payments.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Advises more complex consumer and business customers in their selection of various accounts, products and financial services available from the Bank; recognizes appropriate products or services for customers and ensures opportunities are presented by applying professional sales techniques. Knowledgeable in all bank products and services including more complex personal and business account types such as account analysis and retirement accounts, CDARs, ICS and consumer lines of credit.
  • Interviews customers effectively to obtain all necessary information; establishes proper identification of new customers; determines need and extent of reference investigation, with expert knowledge in collecting and reviewing required business documents and working with Trust account.
  • Makes decisions regarding the opening of new accounts; assigns account numbers; completes forms requiring customer signature(s); review verification, OFAC and Chexsystem reporting to determine if account can be opened; accepts initial deposits; prepares all documents and items pertaining to checking accounts, savings accounts and certificates of deposit for processing with little to no errors.
  • May function as a mentor to train and provide technical guidance to staff.
  • Researches and analyzes data in order to resolve more complex customer problems. Expert level ability to answer customer questions with accounts, ATM cards/transactions, balancing, fees, and account adjustments within given authority.
  • Provides the highest level of customer service when answering customer questions; investigates and corrects errors; and resolves problems or other issues.
  • Issues cashier's checks and accepts wire transfer requests.
  • Performs safe deposit duties by opening accounts, controlling access, assisting customers and processing affiliated reports.
  • Receives and processes stop payment and hold orders.
  • Presents funds received from customer to teller for initial deposits; determines funds availability and obtains receipt for customer.
  • Processes debit card orders, address changes, check and deposit slip orders, and endorsement stamp orders.
  • Ability to initiate, override and void transactions within given authority limits, including initiating outgoing and incoming wires.
  • Gathers data and process various reports and callbacks, and performs maintenance on existing accounts to ensure accurate reporting.
  • Provides courteous and professional assistance to customers over the phone, ensuring proper telephone etiquette is maintained at all times.
  • Processes DDA lines of credit payments and file maintenance.
  • Processes statements, renewal notices and interest payments for IRA and certificates of deposit accounts.
  • Act as mentor to new and/or less experienced bankers.
  • May represent the Bank in various community, civic, and community reinvestment functions to further enhance the Bank's image and develop additional business.
  • Ability to function as a teller - Approximately 25% of Job Expectation.
  • Receives retail and commercial checking and savings deposits by determining that all necessary documents are in proper form, and issuing receipts.
  • Cashes checks, savings withdrawals and accepts loan payments; confirms all necessary documents and properly authorized, are in proper form and are within authorized limits; makes decisions when questionable items are presented for cashing.
  • May assist in opening and closing the vault and/or branch daily; assists in balancing vault currency and coin.
  • May also act as dual control on night depository duties and ATM servicing; logging bags, processing deposits, making change orders, issuing receipts and returning bags to customers.
  • May also act as dual control to balance and process ATM, vault, and night drop transactions.

Compliance

  • Complies with all bank policies and procedures and all applicable government regulations including, but not limited to Federal Regulations - Reg DD, Reg CC, Reg D, Reg E, Reg P, Reg Z; Staying current and knowledgeable of all policies, procedures and regulations related to the job functions and completing all assigned training on time, and requesting additional training as needed to be proficient in all job responsibilities; Cooperating with internal and external auditors and bank examiners by providing full cooperation and timely delivery of requested documentation and information; and reporting concerns about compliance to the Compliance Officer to enable prompt remediation.
  • Complies with Bank policies and procedures relating to the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), and Anti Money Laundering (AML) and Office of Foreign Asset Control (OFAC) guidance. Report suspicious activity to the BSA Department through a Suspicious Incident Report (SIR).
  • Processes transactions accurately with all required Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) information.
  • Adheres to privacy and information security policies, and ensure all sensitive internal and external customer information is properly secured and safeguarded. Use secure methods delivering client and/or confidential data by email.

Qualifications:

These specifications are general guidelines based on the minimum experience normally considered essential to the satisfactory performance of this position.   • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or 3 or more years of related experience and/or training; or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Work related experience should consist of a financial institution operations, sales or customer service background. Educational experience, through in-house training sessions, formal school or financial industry related curriculum, should be business or financial industry related.
  • Requires early mastery of level II position or at least 5 years of experience, knowledge and training in branch operation activities, terminology and products and services relating to retail and commercial account customers, with advanced business account acumen to sell/discuss cash management services with businesses.
  • Advanced knowledge of business entities and required legal documentation and able to provide guidance, training and support to more junior team members.
  • Intermediate knowledge of related state and federal banking compliance regulations, and other Bank operational policies.
  • Intermediate skills in computer terminal and personal computer operation; mainframe computer system; and word processing, spreadsheet and account opening software programs.
  • Intermediate typing skills to meet production needs of the position.
  • Basic knowledge of general office practices.
  • Basic math skills; calculate interest and balance accounts; add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals; locate routine mathematical errors; count currency, coin and negotiable instruments in a timely manner.
  • Effective oral, written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions, interpret documents, understand procedures, write reports and correspondence, and speak clearly to customers and employees.
