Description

Provides clinical and other patient services/related duties, and documents services in an appropriate manner. Trains and mentors junior physicians assistants, and provides a leadership model in support of the mission for junior physicians assistants in patient care, including aggregate reporting and follow-up, continuous quality improvement

Responsibilities

  1. Takes a leadership role and meets regularly with junior physicians assistants and other members of health care team and other staff members to update policies, procedures, new treatment developments, and strategies for efficient administration of services

  2. Has overall clinical responsibility for the quality, outcomes and effectiveness of various occupational medicine programs in accordance with NYS, JCAHO, CDC and OSHA guidelines

  3. Responsible for medical services including follow-up, tracking and aggregate reporting and administration of various compliance programs

  4. Evaluates, diagnoses and treats Division of Occupational Medicine and Medical Center employees

  5. Applies knowledge of Division of Occupational Medicine and Employee Health policies and procedures, and implements them in the delivery of clinical services

  6. Responsible for the timely and complete management and reporting of crucial clinical results; i.e., bloodborne pathogen tracking and reporting, needlestick protocols, similar

  7. Assumes responsibility for progress notes on patient encounters

  8. Maintains accurate and well documented charts

  9. Maintains effective communication with supervising physicians on diagnosis and treatment of patients, as well of implementation of Division policies and procedures

  10. Utilizes computers and computer software to access patient information and generate reports required for patient treatment and compliance status in the clinic and other Division work locations

  11. Participates and assumes a leadership role in the expansion and improvement of operations at Singer Division and other Division work sites as assigned

  12. Functions at the professional level expected of a senior physicians assistant member of the clinical team in the Division

  13. Proactively functions appropriately and provides a leadership model for junior physicians assistants in patient care, including aggregate reporting and follow-up, continuous quality improvement

  14. Appropriately trains and mentors junior physicians assistants through to the completion of essential departmental projects; i.e., impart to junior physicians assistants the importance of the clinical expertise necessary and the process for determining true tuberculosis transmission conversions and conversion rates at Singer Division

  15. Works with nursing staff to ensure optimal patient care and adherence to compliance program policies and procedures

  16. Takes ultimate responsibility and initiative for the timely completion of any projects assigned and takes a proactive role in seeking ways to improve service and productivity throughout the Division

  17. Contributes and functions at the level of a senior physicians assistant

  18. Takes a leadership role in the development and implementation of protocols for efficient and optimal patient care

  19. Performs treatments and procedures, including blood drawing, EKG test administration, vision and audio tests, spirometry and fit testing

  20. Applies knowledge of action, dosage and side effects of medication allowed by NYS law

  21. Provides for the safety of patients and other employees in the clinical environment

  22. Takes safeguards to ensure the security of the necessary tools provided to provide services, medical and otherwise

Qualifications

  • B.S. degree from an accredited Physicians Assistant Program. Applicable work experience may be considered in lieu of educational requirements.
  • Requires appointment to Medical Center Allied Health Personnel Staff.
  • Current New York State Physician Assistant License from PA - C from NCCPA
  • DEA from DOH/Bureau of Narcotic Enforcement
  • Current Infection Control Certificate

The salary range for the role is $141660.54 - $185966.21 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and operational need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
