Job Description - Senior Principal Mechanical Engineer (BAT00GG)Company: WorleyPrimary Location: Baton Rouge, LouisianaEmployment Type: Employee (Full‑time)Posting Date: May 28, 2026Unposting Date: Jul 28, 2026Job PurposeWe are recruiting for a Senior Principal Mechanical Engineer to lead the design and delivery of process and utility equipment across oil, gas, chemical, petrochemical, power, and bulk materials projects. The role provides mechanical engineering leadership, directs design review, supports procurement and construction, and ensures deliverables meet applicable codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.Key ResponsibilitiesLead mechanical engineering from concept through commissioning, including equipment selection and system integration.Develop effort‑hour estimates, project schedules for mechanical activities, and monitor schedule and budget compliance.Report on design and equipment development status and perform regular progress assessments.Oversee the development, review, and approval of specifications, design calculations, and drawings for pressure vessels, heat exchangers, storage tanks, and other mechanical equipment.Ensure engineering deliverables comply with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and Worley's HSE and quality expectations.Provide technical bid evaluations, vendor drawing approvals, and support procurement decisions.Maintain working knowledge of relevant codes, standards, and best practices.Review shop drawings and support inspections to verify conformance to specifications.Define scope of work, support planning, and develop RFQs for procurement.Manage scope changes and keep project stakeholders informed.Stay current on emerging technologies and engineering practices to support continuous improvement.Provide professional engineering sign‑off (stamp) where authorized.Coordinate design registration submissions with relevant authorities.Coach and mentor junior engineers and designers.Represent the mechanical discipline in client engagements, regulatory interactions, and quality assurance activities.Lead or participate in risk assessments, design reviews, and constructability evaluations.Collaborate with cross‑functional project teams across multiple Worley offices and time zones.Assist with site visits and field walkdowns to support project execution.What You Will Bring – Technical/Industry Experience and Qualifications10+ years of overall experience on capital projects from feasibility through construction.10+ years of applications engineering experience, with 7+ years in a lead or related role in mechanical design for oil and gas, petrochemical, and chemical industries.Proven experience leading mechanical engineering scope on brownfield and greenfield projects.Familiarity with project phases (Pre‑FEED, FEED, Detail Design) and associated deliverables.Expertise in materials, design, fabrication, inspection, and testing of mechanical equipment.Experience with industry standards such as ASME, API, etc.Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize demands and meet tight deadlines.Ability to work effectively with other disciplines, supporting customer design reviews.Demonstrated leadership, communication, and sound judgment in regulated, safety‑critical environments.Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.Excellent oral and written communication skills.Education – Qualifications, Accreditation, TrainingRequired: Recognized bachelor's or master's degree in mechanical engineering from an ABET‑accredited college or university.Preferred:Registered Professional Engineering license.Advanced MS Office skills (Word, Excel, OneNote).Equal Employment Opportunity StatementWe provide equal employment opportunities to all qualified applicants and employees without regard to age, race, creed, color, religion, sex, national origin, ancestry, disability status, veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, genetic information, marital status, citizenship status or any other basis as protected by federal, state, or local law.Our policy is to conduct background checks for all candidates who accept an offer of employment with us.#J-18808-Ljbffr
