Senior Principal Systems & Controls Engineer Location: Idaho Falls, ID. Salary: $150,000 - $190,000 per year.Responsibilities Program, execute, and supervise engineering design, construction, installation, and ongoing support of facilities, systems, and technical policies.Coordinate with internal teams to ensure resources, tools, and monitoring progress for projects.Coach and mentor teams for capability and career progression.Assign and manage design engineering teams to meet technical and project requirements on time and within cost allocations.Support technical interaction with customers, including meetings, presentations, and written communications.Maintain involvement with the team and drive technical decisions to ensure sound engineering decisions.Review and approve engineering documents such as reports, drawings, and customer deliverables.Hold design reviews for projects in accordance with business processes.Support or lead proposal activities including market assessments, scope definition, risk assessment, and proposal writing.Develop, test, troubleshoot, and refine system hardware and software requirements with internal and external customers; train others.Perform requirements capture and specification, feasibility, concept proving, prototyping, design, development, test, debug, configure, maintain, and document systems.Find, evaluate, and select equipment suppliers; assist with purchase requisition process.Create and review design documentation and formal test documentation for systems such as SCADA computers, PLCs, system health, redundancy, and data acquisition.Integrate third‑party hardware and software and company‑developed software into systems.Support deployed systems by analyzing and resolving system‑related issues.Follow guidelines and procedures to ensure technical standards meet company standards.Demonstrate strong customer focus; anticipate and meet customer needs and company expectations.Participate in process improvement initiatives.Qualifications U.S. Person required.10+ years of experience.2+ years of experience leading engineering teams.Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.Ability to lead work and manage others.Professional work schedule in an office environment; non‑regular hours occasionally.Technical documentation skills, oral and written communication proficiency.Experience developing proposals and bidding projects.Ability to produce practical conceptual designs for complex systems.Travel both domestically and internationally (less than 10%).Technical Skills PLC and DCS programming and design experience with a wide mix of control system and SCADA equipment.Interfacing with field devices (thermocouples, RTDs, current loops, voltage and discrete I/O).Specification and selection of DCS/PLC instrumentation and field instruments.Analog and digital electronic circuits design.Troubleshooting data acquisition systems, networks, and AC‑DC wiring.CAD software (Microsoft Visio, AutoCAD, etc.).Microsoft Windows Server and Visual Studio C/C++/C#.Windows operating systems, real‑time application development.Formal testing/integration skills, including software unit testing and hardware integration.Preferred Expertise Equipment layout or panel design for end‑user facilities.Network design including VLAN planning, switch configuration, and basic routing.Experience with Microsoft Windows Server and Visual Studio C/C++/C#.Knowledge of real‑time application development.Experience performing formal testing/integration and creating system test procedures.Equal Employment Opportunity Curtiss‑Wright is an equal opportunity employer.
