About This Role:
The Prince William County Criminal Justice Services is an Evidence Based Practices Agency and a fast paced, growing, family style organization that promotes public safety. We strive to reduce victimization, break the cycle of crime, and contribute to community restoration by incorporating the use of Evidence Based Practices into our supervision of pretrial and probation clients. We are currently seeking a highly motivated individual with exceptional interpersonal skills for a career opportunity for a Senior Probation/Pretrial Officer. The candidate for this position will serve as a lead worker assisting subordinate staff with challenging cases. Other duties include providing quality assurance by conducting periodic case reviews that involve reviewing staffs use of risk assessments, development and oversight of supervision plans and general case management of pretrial and probation cases. This position also helps pull and interpret information from several Criminal Justice databases and assisting with compiling information on performance measures for the agency and staff. The candidate will also assist in training new and existing staff, coaching, and supporting staff in the development of skills, assisting managers in scheduling, and other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
High school diploma or G.E.D. and a minimum of six (6) years of experience in a related field such as criminology, psychology, social services, counseling, or work involving court proceedings, case supervision, or related judicial processes.
Preferences:
The successful candidate will have a bachelor's degree in criminology, psychology, social services, counseling or a related field and 2-3 years of experience related to probation/pretrial services. Experience in the supervision of clients in the community; case management, conducting risk assessments and making referrals based upon identified needs. Strong customer service skills, conducting presentations and a demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally are a plus. Experience completing pretrial and probation risk assessments such as the PSA and OST. Experience in collaborating with clients in development and oversight of success plans. The ability to conduct case reviews, evaluate other's work and provide and receive feedback is preferred. The ability to extract information from multiple criminal justice database systems, collaborating with multiple criminal justice, judicial agencies and other community stakeholders within Prince William County or the Virginia Criminal Justice System is also highly desired.
Work Schedule:
Typically, Monday through Friday between 8 am and 5 pm. Could be non-standard hours on occasion.
Starting Salary Range:
$39.01 - $53.68 Hourly
