The chemical engineering team has three main functions that leverage all the fields of chemical and metallurgical processing: Provide sound technical support and continuously improve our commercial operations; Develop new processes and plants to address the immediate challenges of the recycling industry; Research and development to address the future challenges of recycling industry. This Senior Chemical Engineer will fall underneath Redwood's Plant Design and Commissioning group supporting our hydrometallurgy refining plants and related operations.ResponsibilitiesWorking closely with operations and maintenance teams to ensure that our processes are safe, efficient, sustainable, and continuously improvingLeading and participating in cross-functional teams to develop and implement new process plant and equipmentTestwork and pilot plant design and operationFlowsheet conceptualization and developmentFlowsheet trade‑off evaluations and studiesProcess plant implementation and installation assistanceProcess plant commissioning and ramp‑upDesired QualificationsBachelors or Masters in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science, or related discipline5 to 7 years experience in Chemical Plant Operations and/or Design and CommissioningOperational support and track record of solving difficult chemical and metallurgical process problems and making plant improvementsTestwork and pilot plant design and operating experienceProcess modelling (HSCSIM, SysCAD, METSIM) and equipment sizing linking testwork and pilot plant operation to real project implementationTrade‑off studies and financial evaluationProcess plant design and commissioningTrack record of solving difficult chemical and metallurgical processing problemsMetallurgical processing context of this experience is desired (mineral processing, hydrometallurgy, pyrometallurgy and electrometallurgy) but it isn't essentialSelf‑Motivated with a hands on approach who takes the initiativeStrong written and verbal communicationA passion for sustainability and making the world a better place!Physical RequirementsAbility to safely perform job duties in both office and production environmentsMust be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. as neededMust maintain regular and punctual attendance in alignment with company and regulatory standardsMust be able to communicate clearlyWorking ConditionsSplit work environment between office and the production facilityWork may involve extended periods of working in the production facilityAbility to work in challenging working conditions which may include exposure to noise, dust, chemicals, and temperature extremes, while protected by PPE, for extended periods of timeMay require occasional work weekends or alternate shifts to support production needsThe position is full‑time.
