Sedron is a leading provider of circular waste management technologies for agricultural manure and municipal biosolids processing, deploying facilities across several North American regions. Since its founding in 2014, Sedron has pioneered innovative solutions, including the patented Varcor system, to transform waste into clean water, organic fertilizer, and carbon-negative commodities. With strong engineering expertise, Sedron's processes reduce nutrient pollution, lower operational expenses, and promote sustainability at a fraction of traditional costs.

This Senior Process Engineer will take the lead in designing and optimizing process systems, and turning ideas into efficient, high-performing solutions. From crafting PFDs and P&IDs to collaborating with engineers, vendors, and contractors, this role ensures seamless project execution while troubleshooting, innovating, and keeping things running smoothly. If you love solving complex challenges, fine-tuning processes, developing outside of the box solutions, and making an impact, this role is where engineering meets excitement.

Because we design, build, commission, and operate our technologies, we are looking for individuals who can meet the following essential functions of the position:

  • Lead and execute process design activities, including process flow diagrams (PFDs), piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), heat and mass balances, utility summaries, equipment calculations, equipment list and specifications, and similar
  • Serve as the process engineering owner for assigned projects, ensuring timely and accurate execution of process engineering deliverables
  • Develop, review, and refine process models to optimize system performance
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including mechanical, electrical, controls engineering, permitting, drafting, and external partners and contractors to ensure seamless integration of process designs
  • Support the selection, specification, calculations, and procurement of process equipment
  • Engage with vendors and external partners to obtain technical data and evaluate equipment performance
  • Conduct technical risk assessments and propose mitigation strategies
  • Champion and participate in PHA (Process Hazard Analysis) studies in the form of HAZID's (Hazard Identification), HAZOP's (Hazard and Operability study), LOPA (Layers of Protection Analysis), and similar risk assessments
  • Lead value engineering efforts to reduce CapEx and OpEx of the project design
  • Provide technical support during project commissioning, troubleshooting, and optimization phases
  • Support internal commissioning, operations, and EHS (Environmental Health and Safety) teams with activities such as static and dynamic commissioning, SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) development, test plans, data analysis, safety reviews, and similar
  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulations, standards, and best practices in process design
  • Support design changes through an ECM (Engineering Change Management) and MOC (Management of Change) process
  • Contribute to process innovation and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Prioritize duties and responsibilities in order to fulfill objectives
  • Demonstrate the ability to work individually and within a multidisciplinary team, communicating and collaborating with technicians and engineers alike
  • Demonstrate passion and excitement for solving difficult yet exciting tasks
  • Arrive to work on time and maintain good attendance
  • Mentor junior process engineers to provide technical guidance and growth
  • Contribute to resource management, schedule development, and technical hiring
  • Manage engineering change requests
