Overview:

The Senior Business Analyst, Associate Product Owner supports the delivery of Commercial Lines product and technology initiatives, with a focus on translating business strategy into clear requirements, coordinated execution, and measurable outcomes. This role helps enable product, underwriting, pricing, automation, risk selection, user experience, and workflow improvements across the business, particularly within BOP and Package and related value streams. Working closely with Product Owners, Product, underwriting, operations, compliance, actuarial, UX, and technology teams, the role connects business goals to implementation by defining requirements, supporting prioritization, coordinating testing and release readiness, and helping ensure changes are delivered with quality, speed, and low operational risk. Maintains a solid understanding of AmTrust’s mission, vision, and values and upholds the standards of the organization.

 

This position is hybrid out of any AmTrust office. 4 days in the office, 1 day work from home.

Responsibilities:
  • Support Product Owners/Managers in translating Commercial Lines product, underwriting, pricing, automation, and user experience goals into clear business requirements, scope, and implementation plans.
  • Elicit, document, refine, and maintain functional requirements, process flows, business rules, decision points, and acceptance criteria that are clearly understood by stakeholders and technology teams.
  • Act as an assistant product owner for assigned initiatives by helping manage backlog readiness, coordinating requirement walkthroughs, resolving open questions, and supporting prioritization based on business value, dependencies, timing, and compliance needs.
  • Partner with underwriting, product management, operations, actuarial, compliance, forms, pricing, UX, and IT to align business intent with delivered functionality and drive successful implementation across the end-to-end value stream.
  • Support product release planning and change readiness by identifying dependencies, risks, filing or compliance considerations, operational impacts, and stakeholder communication needs.
  • Develop, coordinate, and execute User Acceptance Testing plans, test scenarios, and validation activities to ensure system changes are high quality, low risk, and aligned to business requirements.
  • Track defects, issues, and open decisions through implementation and testing, partnering with technology and business teams to drive timely resolution and informed release decisions.
  • Use data, ad hoc analysis, and process insights to support prioritization, evaluate impacts, identify improvement opportunities, and assess whether expected business outcomes are being realized after implementation.
  • Monitor and communicate initiative status, risks, progress, and business impacts to stakeholders, and help drive change management for enhancements affecting workflows, automation, and underwriting execution.
  • Keep current with insurance market trends, Commercial Lines product changes, and business priorities, and perform other functionally related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

Required:

· 5+ years of experience in commercial lines insurance, product analysis, business analysis, product operations, or a related product delivery role.

· Experience gathering and documenting business and functional requirements, process workflows, business rules, and acceptance criteria for technology initiatives.

· Strong understanding of Commercial Lines products, underwriting workflows, automation, pricing, risk selection, or policy administration processes.

· Experience partnering across business and technology teams to deliver initiatives, resolve issues, and support implementation in a fast-paced environment.

· Experience supporting testing, defect triage, and release readiness for system changes.

· Strong analytical skills with the ability to use data to support business decisions, assess outcomes, and identify opportunities for improvement.

· Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with SQL, reporting tools, or data analysis tools is a plus.

· Strong communication, organization, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts clearly to both business and technical audiences.

· Ability to manage multiple priorities, work through ambiguity, and drive progress with attention to detail and business outcomes.

 

Preferred:

· Bachelor’s degree in business, insurance, finance, mathematics, analytics, information systems, or a related field.

· Experience working in Agile or product delivery models supporting roadmaps, backlog refinement, or product ownership activities.

· Experience with BOP, Package, or other Small Commercial Lines products and associated compliance, filing, or implementation processes.

 

The expected salary range for this role is $87,600-$126,000/year.
