Overview

We are hiring a Product Design Engineer to lead full-cycle mechanical product development from concept through production release. This is a hands-on engineering role focused on designing manufacturable, high-quality products in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

The ideal candidate has deep SolidWorks expertise, strong experience with injection-molded and sheet metal design, and a proven track record of owning products from initial concept through production launch.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end product development (concept, CAD design, prototyping, testing, validation, and production release)
  • Create detailed 3D models, engineering drawings, tolerancing, and production specifications in SolidWorks
  • Develop and maintain assemblies, BOMs, and configuration-controlled design documentation
  • Design components for manufacturability (DFM) across injection-molded plastics, sheet metal, and fabricated parts
  • Apply engineering analysis, including FEA, tolerance stack-ups, and design validation methods
  • Source and evaluate components to support prototype and production builds
  • Support manufacturing handoff, tooling readiness, and production ramp-up
  • Contribute to technical documentation, assembly instructions, and product launch materials

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
  • 5+ years of mechanical product design experience in a manufacturing environment
  • 5+ years of advanced SolidWorks experience (3D modeling, assemblies, detailed drawings)
  • Proven experience designing injection-molded and sheet metal components
  • Demonstrated ownership of full product lifecycle (concept,  production-ready release)
  • Strong knowledge of engineering fundamentals: tolerancing, materials, solid mechanics, and design principles
  • Hands-on experience creating production-ready BOMs and engineering documentation
  • Ability to translate concepts into manufacturable, real-world solutions
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and project ownership skills

Preferred Experience

  • Consumer goods, industrial products, appliances, consumer electronics, or light industrial/automotive manufacturing
  • Experience working in OEM or contract manufacturing environments
  • Exposure to product launches involving tooling, prototyping, and production scaling

Technical Skills

  • SolidWorks (Advanced / Power User) – 3D CAD modeling, assemblies, production drawings
  • FEA (Finite Element Analysis) – structural and design validation
  • DFM/DFA – injection molding and sheet metal fabrication design
  • BOM & product data management – engineering release workflows

Ideal Candidate Profile

We are looking for engineers who have consistently owned product design projects, not just supported them. The strongest candidates will have multiple years of stability in prior roles (typically 3+ years per role) and a demonstrated history of delivering products into production environments.

Why This Role

This is an opportunity to take ownership of real product development work in a manufacturing-driven environment where engineering decisions directly impact production and product success.
