The Senior Project Manager leads delivery across several projects that already have proficient workstream owners. This role is not a hands-on task manager for every work package. The primary accountability is to coordinate workstream owners and delivery teams, integrate dependencies, and own an accurate, current, and actionable integrated schedule. Success in this role is measured by schedule integrity, clean cross-team coordination, timely exception handling, and stakeholder confidence—not by personally executing workstream deliverables.
Schedule ownership
• Own the integrated master schedule across all workstreams, including milestones, dependencies, critical path, and float.
• Maintain schedule hygiene: baseline control, change impact analysis, slip tracking, and recovery options.
• Run a consistent cadence of schedule reviews with workstream owners; publish a single source of truth.
• Translate workstream plans into one coordinated timeline and flag collisions before they become delays.
Team and workstream coordination
• Coordinate proficient workstream owners; clarify scope boundaries, handoffs, and acceptance criteria.
• Facilitate standups, workstream syncs, and cross-stream planning sessions focused on dependencies and decisions.
• Ensure each workstream has a named owner, capacity, and a current plan that rolls up to the master schedule.
• Escalate only true exceptions—decisions, resource conflicts, cross-stream risks—not routine status.
• Keep communication tight so teams are not waiting on the PM for work they already own.
Integration, risk, and governance
• Identify and manage cross-workstream dependencies, constraints, and interface risks.
• Maintain RAID (risks, assumptions, issues, decisions) at the project/program level; push stream level RAID to owners.
• Prepare concise steering materials: schedule health, critical path, decisions needed, and recommended options.
• Protect scope and change control so schedule commitments remain credible.
Stakeholder and reporting
• Serve as the coordination point for sponsors, product/business owners, and delivery leads.
• Produce clear status that emphasizes schedule variance, dependency risk, and next decisions—not activity lists.
• Align workstream messaging so leadership hears one integrated story.
