Your Role:  

This onsite role supports a 24-hour contract pharmaceutical manufacturing facility and serves as the site's primary planning lead for production and materials. The Senior Production/Materials Planner is accountable for end-to-end production scheduling, capacity planning, and materials planning, ensuring customer demand is met through integrated, feasible, and cost-effective plans while maintaining compliance with cGMP requirements.As the single point of accountability for balancing supply and demand, this role owns the Master Production Schedule (MPS) and Material Requirements Planning (MRP) processes across short-, medium-, and long-term planning horizons. The Senior Production/Materials Planner translates forecasts, customer orders, and business objectives into executable production schedules and material plans, balancing customer commitments, manufacturing capacity, material availability, inventory targets, and operational constraints.The successful candidate will be a highly analytical planner with demonstrated expertise in Production Scheduling & Capacity Planning, SAP/ERP systems, and Advanced Excel & Data Analysis. This individual will proactively identify and mitigate supply chain risks, partner cross-functionally with Operations, Procurement, Quality, Engineering, and Customer Service, and provide data-driven recommendations that support service, inventory, and operational performance.Please note: Candidates selected for interviews will be required to complete an Advanced Excel and Data Analysis assessment as part of the onsite interview process.Preferred experience includes: Life Sciences, Pharmaceutical, Medical Device, or Contract Manufacturing environments; MRP and Materials Planning; GMP-regulated manufacturing; and fast-paced, high-volume operations.

Your Profile:

What You'll Do

Own the Integrated Planning Process

  • Lead and maintain the site's Master Production Schedule (MPS) and Material Requirements Planning (MRP) processes.
  • Translate customer demand forecasts, firm customer orders, and revenue targets into executable production and inventory plans.
  • Evaluate tradeoffs between customer service, capacity, inventory, and cost to support business objectives.
  • Identify planning constraints and provide actionable recommendations to leadership.

Drive Production Scheduling & Capacity Planning

  • Develop and manage weekly and near-term production schedules to maximize plant utilization and delivery performance.
  • Align production priorities with material availability, labor resources, and equipment capacity.
  • Monitor schedule adherence, work-in-process (WIP), and execution risks.
  • Implement corrective actions to minimize disruptions and improve On-Time-In-Full (OTIF) performance.

Lead Materials Planning & Inventory Optimization

  • Develop and maintain material plans supporting production requirements and customer demand.
  • Ensure timely availability of raw materials, components, and packaging materials.
  • Manage safety stock, reorder point (ROP), reorder quantity (ROQ), and inventory planning strategies.
  • Maintain planning master data, BOM accuracy, and inventory integrity.
  • Reduce excess, obsolete, and at-risk inventory while supporting operational requirements.

Manage Supply Chain Risk & Cross-Functional Coordination

  • Proactively identify and mitigate risks related to:
    • Capacity constraints
    • Material shortages
    • Supplier performance
    • Long lead-time items
    • Quality, engineering, and specification changes
  • Partner with Operations, Procurement, Quality, Engineering, and leadership teams to resolve planning challenges.
  • Support supply chain-related change control and continuous improvement initiatives.

Measure & Improve Performance

  • Monitor and report key supply chain and planning KPIs, including:
    • OTIF (On-Time-In-Full)
    • Production Schedule Performance
    • Schedule Adherence
    • Inventory Turns and Days Inventory Outstanding (DIO)
    • Obsolete and Excess Inventory
  • Present planning scenarios, recommendations, and business impacts to stakeholders.
  • Drive improvements in planning processes, systems, and reporting capabilities.

Required Qualifications

Required Experience & Skills

To be successful in this role, candidates must demonstrate experience in:

Production Scheduling & Capacity Planning

Master Production Scheduling (MPS) ownership

Material Requirements Planning (MRP)

SAP or other ERP system expertise (SAP strongly preferred)

Advanced Excel and Data Analysis skills:

  • Complex formulas

  • Reporting and data interpretation
  • Planning and forecasting analysis

Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities

Ability to make sound decisions and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment

Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, Operations, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in production planning, scheduling, materials planning, or supply chain planning
  • Demonstrated success managing production and material plans in a manufacturing environment

Preferred Qualifications (Strong Plus)

Candidates with experience in the following areas will stand out:

  • Life Sciences, Medical Device, Biotechnology, Pharmaceutical, or Contract Manufacturing environments
  • MRP and Materials Planning expertise
  • GMP/cGMP regulated manufacturing knowledge
  • Experience working in a high-growth, fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • APICS CPIM, CSCP, or similar supply chain certification
  • Lean Six Sigma certification
