Position Summary:

SUNY Ulster, a two-year branch of the State University of New York located ninety miles north of New York City in the Catskill Mountains, is currently accepting applications for a Senior Program Coordinator: Advanced Technology, Clean Technology, and Advanced Manufacturing.

The Program Coordinator/Director for Advanced Technology oversees the planning, execution, and administrative duties of designing and programming a vast array of advanced technology workforce courses. This position works with multiple academic departments, industry stakeholders, and state agencies to support student pathways into micro credentials, certificates, certifications, and degrees. It assists academic departments in developing new program pathways. The successful candidate will be expected to program a variety of workforce training courses specifically aimed at the growth and economic development of Ulster County. Key responsibilities include coordinating activities, tracking progress, ensuring budgets and schedules are followed, and communicating with stakeholders. This role requires strong project management, organizational, and communication skills, along with familiarity with relevant technology and project management concepts. The Program Coordinator reports to the Assistant Dean of Workforce and Career Development.



 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Program planning and execution: Collaborate with stakeholders to create and carry out a vision for sustaining and expanding advanced technology programs that address the employment needs of the Hudson Valley Region. Develop a strong understanding of programs that incorporate recognized credentials, including state requirements, to improve and/or upskill student employability. Expand programs to include CEUs required for professionals to maintain their professional credential status.
  • Project management: Monitor programs to ensure they stay on schedule and within budget, and manage logistics and resources effectively. Ensure programs have the equipment they need and that it is calibrated and in working order. Order new equipment as needed. Manage Pfeiffer Innovation and Technology Center and Kelder Test House, ensuring instructors have the equipment they need to deliver program content.
  • Stakeholder communication: Serve as a point of contact for various groups, including technical teams, committees, academic partners, and leadership. Lead the apprenticeship initiative. Serve as the lead contact for county and state agencies as they ensure NY State has the workforce they need to grow/maintain economic initiatives.
  • Administrative support: Handle a variety of administrative tasks, such as managing documentation, including budget reporting, marketing, and outreach to promote programs, organizing and planning meetings to align programs with local needs, ordering and calibration of equipment, yearly inventory. Identify grants to support programs. Manage grant reports.
  • Process and policy adherence: Ensure programs meet state and industry requirements.



 

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Project management skills: Ability to manage projects, work under deadlines, and handle multiple projects simultaneously. Ability to manage state and county workforce initiatives.
  • Organizational and communication skills: Professional, interpersonal, and strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Technical aptitude: Familiarity with advanced technology industries, including water and wastewater, advanced manufacturing, and clean technology.
  • Problem-solving skills: The ability to identify and resolve issues, and escalate them when necessary.
 

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technology-related field.
  • Three years project management experience.
 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a related field.
  • Ability to teach entry-level advanced technology courses.
  • Minimum of five years project management experience.



 

Salary:

An initial starting salary of $56,800 with an excellent benefits package. This position is contingent upon adequate funding.
