As part of the AWS Applied AI Solutions organization, we have a vision to provide business applications, leveraging Amazon's unique experience and expertise, that are used by millions of companies worldwide to manage day-to-day operations. We will accomplish this by accelerating our customers' businesses through delivery of intuitive and differentiated technology solutions that solve enduring business challenges. We blend vision with curiosity and Amazon's real-world experience to build opinionated, turnkey solutions. Where customers prefer to buy over build, we become their trusted partner with solutions that are no-brainers to buy and easy to use.

Drive the future of computer vision and agentic AI as a Senior Program Manager - Technical on our Visual Reasoning team, where you"ll coordinate cutting-edge initiatives that transform how businesses leverage advanced visual reasoning and intelligent agents to solve complex operational challenges. Join a startup-like environment within AWS Applied AI Solutions where you"ll work with world-class research scientists, engineers, product managers, and UI/UX designers to bring novel visual reasoning solutions-spanning computer vision, agentic AI, and user experiences-from concept to production.

We are looking for an experienced Senior Program Manager - Technical to join our Visual Reasoning New Initiatives team. This person will be responsible for orchestrating the execution of complex, multi-year programs that bring our Visual Reasoning solutions from internal pilots to production deployment across customer sites. This person will work closely with cross-functional research scientists, engineers, product managers, and UI/UX designers to define technical roadmaps, manage program milestones, coordinate deployments, and drive the operational readiness required to scale Visual Reasoning solutions. In this startup-like environment, you"ll tackle problems that haven"t been solved at scale before-where much is still unknown and we"re moving fast. You"ll integrate cutting-edge visual reasoning capabilities using Visual Question Answering (VQA) for computer vision and agentic AI for intelligent user experiences, playing a critical role in turning ambitious ideas into production-ready systems.

Key job responsibilities

  • Work with engineering, research, UI/UX, and product teams to translate business requirements into technical and functional specifications for Visual Reasoning solutions
  • Define technical roadmaps for engineering and research teams by partnering with Science and Software Development Managers to align on priorities, milestones, and delivery timelines
  • Support launch of Visual Reasoning solutions across new applications, customer verticals, and deployment formats
  • Provide regular updates to senior leadership (VP and SVP level) on program status, risks, dependencies, and mitigation strategies
  • Build comprehensive project plans that balance business needs with project risks, resource availability, and technical constraints
  • Drive engineering project execution by making technical trade-offs, tracking progress, reporting status, and resolving blocking issues
  • Coordinate cross-team efforts across research, engineering, and infrastructure teams

A day in the life

Your day begins with a coordinating stand-up with research scientists, engineers, and product managers to align on program milestones, execution status, and tackle blocking issues. From there, you might jump on calls with external customers to understand their operational needs, technical constraints, integration requirements with their existing systems, and deployment strategies-all critical inputs that inform our technical roadmap. You will spend time defining the technical roadmap for the next 3-6 months, aligning with principals across all workstreams on priorities, technical challenges, dependencies, and the architectural decisions needed to move forward. You will craft bi-weekly updates and co-author monthly updates for VP/SVP leadership, distilling complex program status into strategic insights. But the role is not just strategic-you will also roll up your sleeves to solve hands-on deployment problems, whether that is troubleshooting hardware shipments stuck in a warehouse, navigating space constraints in a customer MDF, or writing installation SOPs for local IT teams deploying our systems. In this startup-like environment, you will balance strategic planning with tactical execution, moving fluidly between high-level roadmap discussions and on-the-ground problem-solving, all while transforming ambitious ideas into production-ready solutions.

About the Company

A

Amazon.com Inc

At Amazon, we don’t wait for the next big idea to present itself. We envision the shape of impossible things and then we boldly make them reality. So far, this mindset has helped us achieve some incredible things. Let’s build new systems, challenge the status quo, and design the world we want to live in. We believe the work you do here will be the best work of your life.

Wherever you are in your career exploration, Amazon likely has an opportunity for you. Our research scientists and engineers shape the future of natural language understanding with Alexa. Fulfillment center associates around the globe send customer orders from our warehouses to doorsteps. Product managers set feature requirements, strategy, and marketing messages for brand new customer experiences. And as we grow, we’ll add jobs that haven’t been invented yet.

It’s Always Day 1
At Amazon, it’s always “Day 1.” Now, what does this mean and why does it matter? It means that our approach remains the same as it was on Amazon’s very first day – to make smart, fast decisions, stay nimble, invent, and stay focused on delighting our customers. In our 2016 shareholder letter, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos shared his thoughts on how to keep up a Day 1 company mindset. “Staying in Day 1 requires you to experiment patiently, accept failures, plant seeds, protect saplings, and double down when you see customer delight,” he wrote. “A customer-obsessed culture best creates the conditions where all of that can happen.” You can read the full letter here

Our Leadership Principles
Our Leadership Principles help us keep a Day 1 mentality. They aren’t just a pretty inspirational wall hanging. Amazonians use them, every day, whether they’re discussing ideas for new projects, deciding on the best solution for a customer’s problem, or interviewing candidates.
