Job Overview:
We are seeking a Senior Programmer Analyst - DataOps Engineer to join our team in Richmond, Virginia. This role is critical in ensuring the operational health, performance, and evolution of enterprise data platforms. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in DataOps practices, data platform engineering, and analytics platform operations. This position will focus on enabling scalable, reliable, and performant data platforms while implementing best practices for DataOps and ensuring platforms are production-ready and optimized for cost and reliability.

Responsibilities:

  • Own the day-to-day operation, reliability, and performance of enterprise data platforms such as Snowflake, Oracle Exadata, Talend, Denodo, and Informatica IDMC.
  • Partner with architecture and delivery teams to evaluate, implement, and optimize new data platform capabilities.
  • Implement and evolve DataOps standards, tooling, and operational processes.
  • Ensure data platforms are secure, scalable, observable, and production-ready.
  • Drive platform optimization across performance, cost, resiliency, and user experience.
  • Support analytics, data science, and reporting teams by enabling smooth data onboarding and issue resolution.
  • Mentor junior engineers and promote platform engineering best practices.
  • Monitor and maintain platform health, including logging, monitoring, alerting, and operational dashboards.
  • Troubleshoot complex data pipeline and platform issues.
  • Optimize queries, workloads, and platform configurations.
  • Document platform standards, runbooks, and operational procedures.
  • Support releases, upgrades, and platform enhancements.
  • Collaborate with security and governance teams on access controls and compliance.
  • Provide technical guidance across multiple concurrent initiatives.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 7+ years of experience in data platform engineering, data infrastructure, and/or analytics platform operations.
  • Proven experience with enterprise data platforms such as Talend, Snowflake, Oracle Exadata, Denodo, and Informatica IDMC.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience writing and optimizing complex SQL queries for analytical and reporting workloads.
  • 3+ years of experience designing Data Marts using Dimensional Modeling (facts, dimensions, star/snowflake schemas).
  • Experience implementing DataOps practices such as monitoring, alerting, operational dashboards, runbooks, or release support for data platforms.
  • Strong communication skills to explain platform capabilities, limitations, and tradeoffs to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to partner closely with business technology analysts, data architects, data engineers, data governance analysts, and analytics users.
  • Experience with infrastructure as code or automation frameworks is a plus.
  • Familiarity with cloud data platform optimization, cost management, and governance models is preferred.
  • Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalency is required.

Pay Range: $70 - $75/hr. W2

The specific compensation for this position will be determined by several factors, including the scope, complexity, and location of the role, as well as the cost of labor in the market; the skills, education, training, credentials, and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment.
