A well-established and rapidly growing commercial construction company is seeking a Senior Project Accountant to join its finance team. This is an excellent opportunity to partner directly with Project Managers and leadership while taking ownership of the financial health of large-scale construction projects from inception through closeout.

Job Details

Responsibilities
Manage project setup, budgets, cost codes, contract values, change orders, and billing within construction accounting systems.
Prepare and submit owner billings, including AIA payment applications, schedules of values, retainage, stored materials, and supporting documentation.
Monitor project costs, commitments, subcontractor activity, and job profitability throughout the project lifecycle.
Perform monthly project reconciliations, WIP reporting, revenue recognition support, and month-end close activities.
Partner with Project Managers to review job costs, forecast project performance, analyze margins, and identify financial risks.
Track subcontractor compliance, including lien waivers, insurance certificates, certified payroll, bonds, and required documentation.
Support cash flow management through billing, collections, subcontractor payments, and retention tracking.
Prepare financial reporting, variance analyses, and ad hoc reports for project teams and executive leadership.
Assist with project closeout, internal and external audits, process improvements, and mentoring junior accounting staff.

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
5+ years of construction project accounting experience.
Strong knowledge of GAAP, percentage-of-completion accounting, WIP schedules, job costing, contract billing, and revenue recognition.
Experience with construction ERP platforms such as Sage Intacct, Foundation, Procore, Vista, CMiC, or similar.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, and financial analysis.
Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across Finance and Operations.
