Senior Project Engineer – Water & WastewaterDepartment: Water/WastewaterLocation: Jackson, MSWaggoner Engineering, Inc. is hiring a Senior Project Engineer – Water & Wastewater for our Jackson, MS office. The focus of this position is providing planning, design and technical assistance to the Discipline Manager and other members of the design team in delivering projects within budgetary and time constraints.Primary ResponsibilitiesPerform engineering analyses and evaluations (primarily computer‑based) in support of planning and design of civil works projects, including:Water distribution system and sanitary sewer collection system hydraulic modelingPump station modeling and analysis for well pumps, sewer lift stations, and transmission pumping stationsAnalysis and evaluation of treatment options for potable water and wastewater plantsAnalysis and evaluation of water and sewer rate structuresPlanning, assessments and recommendations related to the need for public water and wastewater facilitiesPerform analysis and design of water distribution systems, water supply and treatment components, sanitary sewer systems and components; transmission, treatment and disposal systems; POTWs and other projectsConduct assessment and evaluation of existing system conditions and develop recommended remedial measuresMaintain and document written and verbal communications with clients throughout the development and completion of projectsConduct project status reviews with the project manager and team members, checking accuracy of work and monitoring timeliness of completionAttend project‑management meetingsAssist Project Managers with administrative duties concerning completion of assigned projects, including review of schedules, scopes and budgetsAssist Project Manager in preparation of engineering studies and reportsProvide technical guidance and training to members of the project teamPrepare project design using sound engineering principles, engineering software and toolsAssist in preparation of contract documents and technical specificationsAssist Project Manager in assuring quality‑control procedures are performedMaintain responsibility for the accuracy of each segment of the work and for final checking of the workMaintain responsibility for adherence to applicable codesProvide leadership, guidance and mentoring to engineering staffWhat You'll NeedCivil Engineering degreeLicense as a Professional Engineer (PE) in Mississippi required; licensure as a PE or ability to obtain within six months in contiguous states desirableMinimum of eight (8) years of Water/Wastewater‑related design experience and at least five years of project‑management experienceDemonstrated experience in Water and Wastewater field, including design of treatment facilities, collection systems, booster and pump stations, water, reclaimed water and wastewater master plansExperience with construction‑related engineering services and ability to review shop drawings, RFIs and issue engineer directivesProficiency in design using AutoCAD and Civil 3D; advanced knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)Knowledge of design, online reports and databases preferredUnderstanding of and experience with sustainability principles in public infrastructureSuperior communication skills and in‑depth knowledge of company products and operationsOther Duties: This job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
