This role is ideal for a self‑driven professional who is eager to expand their technical expertise, take on increasingly complex challenges, and grow within a collaborative engineering environment.The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience delivering transportation projects for local public agencies and jurisdictions , with a strong understanding of roadway design standards, multidisciplinary coordination, and project delivery from planning through final design.ResponsibilitiesLead or support the planning, design, and delivery of a wide range of roadway and transportation infrastructure projectsPrepare engineering plans, specifications, estimates, and technical reports for public agency projectsDevelop roadway geometric designs, grading plans, striping plans, signing plans, and traffic control conceptsCoordinate with internal disciplines including traffic engineering, drainage, utility coordination, environmental, right-of-way, and construction support teamsParticipate in client meetings, technical workshops, and agency coordination effortsAssist with project schedule management, budget tracking, and quality control reviewsSupport proposal development, technical approaches, and scope preparation for transportation pursuitsMentor junior staff and contribute to a collaborative team environmentStay current with evolving design standards, agency requirements, and industry best practicesProject ExperienceThis position offers the opportunity to work on a diverse range of transportation projects, including:Pavement rehabilitation and complete street improvementsRoad diets and corridor reconfigurationsRoadway widening and intersection improvementsActive transportation projects including bicycle and pedestrian facilitiesTraffic calming and safety enhancement projectsADA accessibility improvementsMultimodal corridor improvementsUtility coordination and infrastructure integration projectsBachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field5 to 10 years of professional experience in roadway designExperience delivering projects for cities, counties, and other local public agenciesStrong working knowledge of:AASHTO Green BookCaltrans Highway Design Manual (HDM)California Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (CA MUTCD)Proficiency with roadway design tools such as AutoCAD Civil 3DStrong communication, organization, and problem‑solving skillsAbility to manage multiple assignments in a fast‑paced consulting environmentEngineer-in-Training (EIT) certification required, Professional Engineer (PE) License preferredPhysical Demands: Must be able to regularly talk, hear and operate a computer, keyboard and mouse and occasionally lift, pull/push and carry up to 20 pounds with accommodations.Work Conditions: Exposure to constant or intermittent sounds at a low or moderate level consistent with an office setting. Travel to other BKF locations and client sites may be required.Salary and BenefitsThe typical base salary range for this position is $103,000.00 - $142,000.00, annualized depending upon skills, experience, education, and geographical location.
