Position Summary
This position performs a wide range of professional engineering duties in support of assigned projects, including traffic engineering, transportation, street maintenance, storm drainage, construction of public buildings, and recreational facilities. The role ensures the cost-effectiveness of City engineering projects and requires engagement with elected officials, public meetings, and community members.
This is an unclassified at-will position.

Minimum Education, Experience And Additional Requirements
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Civil Engineering or a related field; and
Five (5) years of professional engineering experience; and
To include three (3) years of supervisory experience.
or
Master's degree from an accredited college or university in Civil Engineering or a related field; and
Three (3) years of professional engineering experience; and
To include three (3) years of supervisory experience.
Additional Requirements:
Possession of a valid New Mexico Drivers license, or the ability to obtain by the date of hire.
Possession of a City Operators Permit (COP) within 6 months from date of hire.
New Mexico Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred. Out of state PE licensees must obtain a New Mexico PE license.
Required to work flexible hours, including evening meetings and occasional weekend hours.
Working Conditions
Environmental:
Field and office and field environment, occasional construction site environment; exposure to noise, dust, fumes, and environmental conditions may occur; travel from site to site.
Physical:
Essential and supplemental functions may require maintaining physical condition necessary for sitting, walking or standing for prolonged periods of time; operating motorized vehicles.
