As a Senior Project Engineer, Utilities (Level III), you will lead the design and development of engineering solutions for pipeline, lift station, water treatment, wastewater treatment, and public facility projects across Florida.

This role is ideal for an engineer who wants technical ownership without being pulled completely away from design. You will contribute to high-quality plans, specifications, calculations, permitting support, and project documentation while working closely with project managers, senior engineers, and multi-disciplinary teams. For someone looking to grow toward higher-level project leadership, this position offers a clear advancement path while keeping you hands-on with meaningful municipal utility work.

Core Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, and implementation of engineering solutions for water/wastewater, utility, and public facility projects

  • Prepare and review engineering drawings, specifications, calculations, reports, and design documentation

  • Support pipeline, lift station, water treatment, and wastewater treatment design efforts

  • Develop plans and technical deliverables in compliance with applicable codes, standards, regulatory requirements, and client expectations

  • Coordinate with project managers, senior engineers, designers, consultants, and internal technical teams

  • Monitor project progress and assist with adjustments to maintain schedule, budget, and quality expectations

  • Identify potential project risks and work with senior staff to develop practical mitigation strategies

  • Prepare and maintain project documentation, including reports, design changes, schedules, status updates, and technical records

  • Communicate project status, risks, issues, and design decisions to project managers and clients

  • Support QA/QC reviews to ensure technical accuracy, constructability, and compliance with project standards

  • Participate in site visits, project coordination meetings, and client discussions as needed

  • Contribute to the development of junior staff through technical guidance and project support

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related engineering discipline

  • Licensure: Active Professional Engineer (PE) license required

  • Experience: 5–7 years of experience in civil, environmental, utility, or water/wastewater engineering

  • Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of engineering principles related to pipeline, lift station, water treatment, and/or wastewater treatment design

  • Software: AutoCAD proficiency required; familiarity with Deltek VantagePoint, Smartsheet, or similar project platforms preferred

  • Project Delivery: Ability to prepare and review plans, specifications, calculations, reports, and technical documentation

  • Communication: Strong interpersonal, written, organizational, and coordination skills

  • Transportation: Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Licensure: Florida PE license or out-of-state PE with active Florida reciprocity application

  • Municipal Experience: Experience supporting municipal utility, public works, or public-sector water/wastewater projects

  • Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with FDEP permitting, AWWA standards, local utility authority requirements, or related regulatory processes

  • Modeling Tools: Proficiency in WaterCAD, SewerCAD, Civil 3D, or similar engineering/modeling platforms

  • Project Leadership: Interest in advancing toward Level IV, project management, or higher-level technical leadership

  • Field Experience: Exposure to site visits, construction administration, utility coordination, or field investigations

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive base salary with bonus potential

  • Medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance

  • 401(k) with company match

  • Paid time off and paid holidays

  • Professional development and licensure support
