This is a hands-on, senior-level role responsible for translating complex technical scope into clear, competitive, and executable pricing. You will work directly with engineering, project management, vendors, and clients to ensure estimates are aligned with real-world project delivery.

What You Will Do
Estimate Development & Execution

  • Analyze technical documentation including P&IDs, loop diagrams, electrical one-lines, and control schematics
  • Develop detailed estimates for materials, labor, equipment, and subcontracted work
  • Apply sound judgment to scope interpretation, pricing strategy, and cost drivers
Scope, Risk & Commercial Alignment
  • Identify gaps, assumptions, exclusions, and project risks during estimate development
  • Ensure estimates are aligned with constructability, schedule, and execution strategy
  • Participate in pre-bid reviews and internal estimate reviews
Vendor & Stakeholder Collaboration
  • Interface with vendors, subcontractors, and suppliers to obtain pricing and technical input
  • Collaborate with engineering and project management to ensure alignment between design and execution
  • Support client communication as needed to clarify scope and requirements
Continuous Improvement
  • Maintain and leverage historical cost data and estimating tools
  • Track awarded projects and compare estimated vs. actual costs to improve accuracy
  • Identify value engineering opportunities and cost-saving alternatives

Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; additional technical training preferred
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in estimating or project costing within industrial controls, automation, or I&E environments
  • Strong knowledge of industrial automation systems (PLC/DCS), instrumentation, and electrical systems
  • Proven ability to perform hands-on estimating for complex technical projects
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications independently
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines simultaneously
  • Strong communication skills across technical and commercial stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Rockwell, Siemens, Schneider, or similar control systems
  • Background in industrial manufacturing, process industries, or water/wastewater
  • Field experience as an electrician, controls technician, or commissioning engineer
  • Familiarity with NEC, UL508A, and industry safety standards

What Sets You Apart
  • Strong technical and commercial judgment
  • Ability to own estimates end-to-end and stand behind your numbers
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and constructability
  • Comfortable working in a deadline-driven, bid environment
  • Practical, solutions-focused approach to complex technical scope

Why ACE Controls
  • Work on complex industrial automation and controls projects
