Position Summary
Elite Pro Technology is seeking a Senior Project Manager to take full ownership of complex commercial AVL, IT, network, low-voltage and technology integration projects from sales handoff through final closeout.
The Senior Project Manager is responsible for ensuring projects are properly planned, staffed, coordinated, communicated, financially controlled and completed to Elite Pro Technology's standards and requires regular visits to the job site to keep the team and the job on track.
The SPM has the authority to schedule and direct project resources and is accountable for project outcomes, including schedule, labor performance, customer communication, scope control, quality and gross margin.
Success Measures
- Schedule performance
Projects reach contractual and internally committed milestones on time. - Gross-margin protection
Target gross margin is maintained, with a normal expectation percentage unless specifically approved otherwise. - Labor performance
Projects are properly planned and delivered at or below budgeted labor hours. - Scope and change-order management
Additional work is identified, documented and converted into approved change orders before significant uncompensated work occurs. - Quality and closeout
Systems are delivered to company standards with minimal callbacks, rework and lingering punch-list items. - Independent project ownership
Projects progress without routine owner intervention. Risks are identified, communicated and solved proactively.
Core Responsibilities
Project planning and execution
- Review contract documents, proposals, scopes, drawings, estimates and equipment lists before project launch.
- Identify scope gaps, risks, constructability concerns and coordination issues before field work begins.
- Develop and maintain the project schedule, milestones and labor plan.
- Coordinate multiple simultaneous projects and competing resource requirements.
- Ensure work begins with the required information, equipment, labor and site readiness.
- Lead project kickoff, coordination and progress meetings.
- Maintain a forward-looking plan rather than reacting to problems after they affect the project.
Financial ownership
- Understand the estimated labor, materials, subcontractor costs and gross-margin expectations for each project.
- Track actual performance against budget throughout the project.
- Forecast labor and material variances before they become significant overruns.
- Protect project gross margin through scope management, labor planning, change-order capture and early corrective action.
- Identify and document out-of-scope work.
- Initiate change orders promptly and ensure unauthorized scope does not become uncompensated work.
- Participate in final profitability review and lessons learned.
Field leadership
- Schedule and direct field supervisors, technicians and subcontractors assigned to the project.
- Establish clear expectations regarding deliverables, sequencing and completion dates.
- Ensure supervisors have sufficient information to execute without continual escalation.
- Inspect work quality and confirm installations meet company standards, drawings, scope and customer expectations.
- Resolve field problems decisively while escalating material contractual or financial issues when necessary.
Customer and stakeholder management
- Serve as the primary project-level customer contact.
- Maintain professional, proactive communication regarding schedule, progress, decisions, risks and changes.
- Coordinate with general contractors, architects, consultants, electricians, IT departments, owners and other trades.
- Manage customer expectations without making commitments outside approved scope or budget.
- Protect the long-term customer relationship while protecting Elite Pro Technology's contractual and financial interests.
Procurement and material readiness
- Provide Operations/Procurement with complete, accurate and timely equipment requirements.
- Confirm long-lead items and critical materials early enough to protect the project schedule.
- Verify that required equipment is ordered, received and staged before installation milestones.
- Project Management owns readiness and timing. Operations/Procurement owns the purchasing process and vendor transaction.
Closeout
- Drive project to completion aggressively.
- Coordinate testing, commissioning, training and customer acceptance.
- Ensure redlines, as-builts, equipment documentation and required closeout materials are complete.
- Confirm outstanding change orders and financial issues are resolved.
- Conduct project closeout and profitability review.
- Capture lessons learned and convert recurring failures into improved process or documentation.
Engineering and Design Responsibility
The Senior Project Manager must understand AVL, networking and low-voltage systems sufficiently to review designs intelligently, identify conflicts and manage technical execution.
Depending on the candidate's qualifications, the SPM may also perform minor engineering or drawing work in conjunction with the engineering team to keep the documents up to date with the project specs. This may include:
- Elevations
- Floor plans
- Cable schedules
- Equipment schedules
- Network diagrams
- Construction coordination drawings
- As-built documentation
Decision-Making Authority
The Senior PM has authority to:
- Schedule and direct project labor.
- Establish project sequencing and priorities.
- Coordinate subcontractors.
- Communicate directly with customers and project stakeholders.
- Make routine operational decisions necessary to execute approved scope.
- Authorize reasonable incidental field purchases within company policy.
- Initiate change-order requests and recommend corrective actions.
The SPM is expected to make decisions that keep the project moving within the guardrails, not wait for the management team to direct routine project activity.
Major contractual changes, significant unbudgeted expenditures and commitments outside approved scope require executive approval.
Weekly Project Reporting
The SPM identifies risks and proposes solutions before they become emergencies.
For every active project, the SPM reports:
- Current project status
- Upcoming 2–4 week milestones
- Schedule status and completion forecast
- Labor budget vs. actual vs. forecast
- Material status and shortages
- Current gross-margin forecast
- Open change orders
- Customer decisions required
- Major risks or blockers
- Quality/rework issues
- Actions being taken to resolve each identified problem

- Strong customer-facing communication and negotiation skills.
