Our client is currently seeking a highly experienced Senior Project Manager to join their Project Management Department in Charlotte, North Carolina. This role offers the opportunity to lead complex, mid-to-large capital power projects, with a strong emphasis on combined cycle power plants. The position is ideal for a strategic leader who thrives in technically challenging environments and enjoys collaborating across engineering disciplines, vendors, and clients to deliver high-quality results.
Lead and manage mid-to-large capital power projects, with specific experience in combined cycle power generation, from early project phases through start-up and commissioning.
Oversee and coordinate multiple engineering disciplines and vendor activities throughout the project lifecycle.
Monitor, control, and report on project costs, schedules, and performance across all project phases.
Execute all aspects of assigned projects, including staffing, strategic leadership, technical oversight, productivity, quality, schedule, and budget management.
Successfully manage and execute work in collaboration with overseas High Value Engineering (HVE) offices.
Develop and implement administrative, technical, and corporate procedures to ensure projects are executed profitably and in compliance with company standards.
Direct and manage project personnel; support the team in planning, scheduling, design quality, and execution.
Assume full accountability for schedule compliance, budget adherence, scope control, and quality of deliverables.
Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients and internal project teams.
Ensure client input and job requirements are fully addressed in accordance with contractual obligations.
Organize and oversee the implementation of project management systems and corporate quality systems.
Maintain accurate and complete project documentation, including commercial, technical, and financial correspondence.
Prepare and review monthly progress reports detailing schedules, client expenditures, and scope status.
Ensure timely and accurate invoice processing per contract terms; act as liaison between clients and accounting.
Champion Management of Change, including identifying, documenting, and processing Engineering Change Notices (ECNs).
Identify and support new business opportunities through strong client relationships; participate in business development efforts.
Proactively plan upcoming tasks, identify potential risks or issues, and implement effective solutions.
Maintain appropriate staffing levels to meet project requirements; recruit, train, and develop project personnel as needed.
Mentor and coach staff, tracking and developing technical and project management skillsets.
Develop project proposals, scopes of work, and budgets.
Perform field walkdowns and data collection as required; position includes field activities, some climbing, and occasional travel.
Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
15 20 years of experience on power generation projects, with a strong focus on combined cycle facilities.
Minimum 8 10 years of experience as a Project Manager.
Proven ability to manage complex projects involving multiple disciplines and vendors.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to support effective coordination with clients, vendors, and internal teams.
Highly organized, self-directed, and capable of prioritizing and multitasking in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to work collaboratively in both office and field settings.
Willingness to travel as required.
