Description

Brailsford & Dunlavey (B&D), which now includes Project Management Advisors (PMA), is seeking a Senior Project Manager to join our Life Sciences team in San Francisco

This is a hybrid role based in the San Francisco Bay Area.

The Opportunity

An opportunity for an experienced project management professional who thrives in technically complex environments, enjoys leading multidisciplinary teams, and is passionate about delivering cutting-edge life sciences and mission-critical facilities that support innovation, research, and scientific advancement.

At Brailsford & Dunlavey (B&D), we lead the planning, development, and management of the places that shape and strengthen communities—where people live, learn, work, and innovate. B&D partners with institutions, municipalities, and organizations to deliver complex real estate and capital projects through strategic advisory and program management services across the full project lifecycle.

B&D recently joined forces with Project Management Advisors (PMA), bringing together two nationally recognized leaders in program management and real estate advisory services. Together, the combined firm offers expanded capabilities across industries and end-to-end project delivery—from early-stage strategy through design, construction, and occupancy.

Our Life Sciences team supports the development of laboratory, biotech, pharmaceutical, research, and mission-critical facilities across the country. We work closely with clients to deliver highly specialized environments that require advanced infrastructure, technical systems integration, and precise project execution.

As a Senior Project Manager, you will work directly with clients, architects, engineers, contractors, consultants, and project teams to support planning, design, and construction activities for new buildings, tenant improvements, infrastructure projects, and facility assignments.

How You'll Contribute

• Serve as the primary point of contact between clients and project teams throughout the project lifecycle, focused on MEPP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and Process) and Technology (Controls, Automation, AV, Security, IT/Network etc.)

• Coordinate and manage regular design meetings and specific discussions with the client, consultants, contractors, etc.; document discussions and track action items to maintain accountability

• Drive the creation of MEPP and Technology documents to support project execution

• Review project requirements and program objectives and confirm incorporation into consultant deliverables

• Coordinate procurement of design, construction, and consultant services

• Support contract development, review, negotiation, and administration for project-related agreements; coordinate specialty consultants and peer reviews as needed

• Develop, monitor, and maintain project budgets, schedules, and project controls; support evaluation of potential changes to project scope, budget, and schedule

• Analyze project budgets and schedules and identify potential impacts to financial and operational objectives

• Participate in value engineering discussions and review project alternatives with clients and teams

• Build strong partnerships with clients, architects, engineers, contractors, consultants, and other project stakeholders

• Collaborate with clients and project teams to identify risks, resolve issues, and maintain project momentum

• Support the project team and/or mentor internal project resources, including Assistant Project Managers and Project Managers.

• Monitor construction activities and confirm alignment with design intent, contract requirements, schedules, and quality standards; observe and report on construction progress and project-related issues

• Support and coordinate successful project closeout for MEPP and Technology and transition/training activities

What We're Looking For

  • 10+ years of experience in an MEP/Technology affiliated role - development, real estate, design, construction, or project management
  • Experience supporting complex technology, infrastructure, mission-critical, laboratory, or commercial projects is preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, Urban Planning, Real Estate, or a related field
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully manage projects and consistently meet or exceed client expectations and deadlines
  • Strong understanding of design and construction processes, project controls, documentation, and sequencing
  • Experience managing project budgets, schedules, and reporting tools
  • Ability to interpret architectural, engineering, and construction documentation
  • Strong communication and relationship management skills with clients, consultants, contractors, and internal teams
  • Experience supporting procurement, contracts, and consultant coordination
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment

What Sets You Apart

  • You are a proactive self-starter who takes ownership of project outcomes

  • You bring strong interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence to client and team interactions

  • You are highly organized and detail-oriented when managing project information, schedules, and budgets

  • You approach challenges with curiosity and a solution-oriented mindset

  • You are comfortable collaborating with technical teams and senior stakeholders

  • You demonstrate professionalism, integrity, and sound judgment in all interactions

  • You are adaptable and thrive in complex, evolving project environments

  • You are motivated by delivering projects that support innovation and business growth

  • You enjoy building relationships and contributing to a collaborative team culture
