Job Description

The Project Manager duties include, but are not limited to, managing projects associated with the Radioactive Materials Laboratory (RML) Service Life Extension (SLE) to deliver post irradiated exam test capabilities for NNL through 2055. This includes projects that will improve RML maintenance, increase testing capability and capacity, mitigate legacy liabilities, and improve operational efficiency. Duties also include support of non-SLE maintenance and emergent projects required to meet testing objectives.

 

The project manager is accountable for successfully managing complex projects or programs that include multiple integrated components. This role involves defining, planning, and executing all tasks necessary to achieve project objectives.

 

 Key responsibilities include:

• Establishing and maintaining a project team infrastructure.
• Securing the resources needed to staff and support the project.
• Defining project scope and creating a detailed work breakdown structure.
• Developing cost estimates and resource-loaded schedules.
• Monitoring overall costs and progress against the approved budget.
• Managing relationships to ensure deliverables are met.
• Identifying, assessing, and mitigating project risks.
• Facilitating communication and integration among stakeholders, support staff, and line management.
The project manager is ultimately accountable for meeting project objectives while maintaining transparency and ensuring alignment with organizational priorities.

Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience; orMaster's degree from an accredited college or university in a related field and a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.

Preferred Skills

• Demonstrated ability to produce and maintain project schedules using Primavera P6.
• Demonstrated ability to produce a Project Management Plan, execute projects, and use other project management tools and principles.
• Have executed NNL projects using Corporate Procedures and Instructions.
• Strong communication skills with test teams, management, and ability to lead teams.
• Knowledge of Environmental, Safety, and Health requirements for inclusion into projects.
• Knowledge of Radiological requirements for inclusion into projects.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks at a time.

Pay Range

$86,100.00 - $134,600.00 annually
Salary information provided is a general guideline only. Annual salary is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is operated for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) by Fluor Marine Propulsion, LLC (FMP), a wholly owned subsidiary of Fluor Corporation.
