Position Overview:

We are seeking a Senior Environmental Project Manager to lead complex environmental projects while driving business development and client growth initiatives. This role is responsible for managing multidisciplinary environmental projects, maintaining strong client relationships, and identifying new business opportunities that support the company’s strategic growth.

 

The ideal candidate is a proven leader with strong technical expertise, project management experience, and a demonstrated ability to develop and expand client relationships within the environmental consulting industry.

Responsibilities:

 

  • Manage and oversee environmental projects from proposal through completion, ensuring delivery on time and within budget.
  • Lead multidisciplinary teams in the execution of environmental investigations, permitting, compliance, and remediation projects.
  • Prepare and review technical reports, proposals, cost estimates, and project documentation.
  • Monitor project financial performance, including budgets, forecasting, and invoicing.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior staff and project team members.
  • Coordinate with regulatory agencies, subcontractors, and clients as required.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities with public and private sector clients.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective clients.
  • Lead proposal development, including scope preparation, budgeting, and contract negotiation.
  • Participate in marketing initiatives, networking events, and industry associations.
  • Collaborate with leadership to develop strategic growth plans and expand service offerings.
  • Meet or exceed individual and team revenue growth targets.
  • erve as the primary point of contact for key clients.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to project managers, scientists, and technical staff.
  • Support recruiting, training, and performance development initiatives.
  • Foster a culture of safety, quality, and collaboration across project teams.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Environmental Science, Business, or a related field; advanced degree or PMP certification preferred.
  • 7+ years of progressive project management experience, preferably within engineering, environmental, or construction industries.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage large, complex, and high-impact projects in a fast-paced, multi-stakeholder environment.
  • Proficient in project management tools such as Microsoft Project, Smartsheet, or similar, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • In-depth knowledge of project planning, budgeting, scheduling, risk assessment, and regulatory compliance.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage diverse teams and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Experience managing project financials, contracts, and vendor relationships.
  • Ability to travel to job sites and regional offices as needed.
  • Self-directed, highly organized, and capable of managing competing priorities in a matrixed or decentralized organization.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Professional certification such as PE (Professional Engineer), PG (Professional Geologist), or PMP (Project Management Professional).
  • Experience managing environmental due diligence, site assessments, remediation, or permitting projects.
  • Established network of industry contacts and clients.
  • Experience working with government and municipal clients.
  • 5+ years of project management experience in environmental services.
  • Demonstrated success in business development and client relationship management.
  • Strong knowledge of environmental regulations (EPA, state, and local).
  • Proven ability to manage budgets, schedules, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites and client meetings as needed.
Travel Requirements:

This position does not require regular travel as part of its primary responsibilities. However, occasional travel may be required, up to 10%, primarily for occasional off-site meetings, training sessions, or company events. Travel, when necessary, will be communicated in advance and aligned with business needs.

  • The role involves regular communication with team members, clients, and stakeholders, both in person and through virtual platforms.
  • The physical demands of the job may include occasional standing, walking, bending, and lifting of office materials up to 15 pounds.
