Leidos is looking for a Senior Project Manager to support execution of critical strategic Information Technology initiatives for a customer within the Department of Justice. The Senior Project Manager will own one or more large complex projects and be responsible for driving execution across teams, ensuring adherence to schedules, and briefing directly to executive leadership within the Department of Justice.
This role is designed for an experienced project leader who can operate with a high degree of autonomy, influence execution planning, and drive alignment across cross-functional teams. This position carries significant responsibility and visibility and requires sound judgment, execution rigor, and the ability to partner effectively with senior Leidos and customer leadership. The successful candidate will be expected to ensure that projects maintain appropriate oversight, documentation, and risk management throughout the lifecycle of each assigned initiative.
Key Responsibilities:
- Help establish, oversee, and enforce the strategic roadmap and vision of the platform(s) and ecosystem to ensure alignment to measurable business outcomes.
- Ensure platform team alignment with the business strategy, roadmap, and platform governance policies.
- Preside over the technical governance board(s) and steering committee(s) and is involved in all governance components.
- Provide technical project management support in the form of requirements gathering, documentation, customer/stakeholder interaction, and technical writing.
- Define and influence the integrated execution plan that underpins project schedules, cost baselines, and performance commitments, working closely with scheduling and project controls teams.
- Coordinate cross-functionally with engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, contracts, quality, logistics, and finance to ensure aligned execution.
- Identify, assess, and manage project risks and issues; develop, track, and drive mitigation actions to closure.
- Monitor project performance using schedule, cost, and risk indicators; ensure emerging issues are surfaced early with clear recommendations.
- Prepare concise project status briefings, metrics, and decision-support materials for program and PMO leadership.
Please Note: This work is located onsite in the DC area.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Information Technology, Business, OR in a related discipline with 8+ years of prior relevant experience OR Masters with 6+ years of prior relevant experience. Additional years of relevant experience may be considered/accepted in lieu of degree.
- 8+ years of project OR program management experience supporting information technology programs.
- Demonstrated ability to lead execution across cross-functional teams.
- Strong understanding of project execution fundamentals, including cost, schedule, risk, and performance management.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interface effectively with executive leadership and technical teams.
- U.S. Citizenship required.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust security clearance.
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience supporting DOJ programs of record.
- Experience leading projects involving large scale facility moves or new facility stand-up.
- Familiarity with earned value management, integrated master schedules, or production execution environments.
- PMP or equivalent project management certification.
Please Note: The program budget salary for this role could fall anywhere between $110,000 to low/mid $135,000 with a slight wiggle room (no guarantees) based on relevant experience and assessment. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
