Our client is a prominent, publicly traded heavy civil construction and construction materials company. This position plans, directs, and coordinates activities of designated heavy civil construction projects to ensure goals and objectives are accomplished within the prescribed time frame and funding parameters. 

  • Typical Schedule: Monday – Friday, 6:30 AM – 7:30 PM, plus two Saturdays per month (varies depending on project demands).

Minimum Requirements 

  1. Education: 2-to-4-year degree preferred in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or an equivalent field from an accredited college or university. 
  2. Experience: Minimum of 2 years of construction project management experience. 
  3. Licensing: Ability to obtain and maintain proper licensure, a medical card, and an acceptable driving record. 
  4. Flexibility: Ability to work flexible shifts, including overtime, occasional nights, and some Saturdays as needed. 

 

 

Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Plans, directs, and coordinates activities of designated projects to ensure goals or objectives are accomplished within the prescribed time frame. 
  • Reviews project proposals to determine time frames, procedures for accomplishing projects, staffing requirements, and allotment of available resources to various phases of the project. 
  • Establishes work plans and staffing, and coordinates the recruitment or assignment of project personnel. 
  • Confers with project staff to outline work plans and to assign duties, responsibilities, and scope of authority. 
  • Directs and coordinates activities of project personnel. 
  • Reviews status reports and prepares comprehensive project reports. 
  • Confers with project personnel to provide technical advice and resolve on-site issues. Meets with customers directly to ensure satisfaction. 
  • Monitors subcontractor work and performance. 
  • Reconciles vendor statements monthly to ensure all invoices are processed and paid. 
  • Manages assigned projects (responsible for all bid projects unless reassigned). 
  • Communicates effectively (verbal, listening, and written) and collaborates successfully with diverse teams and stakeholders under high-stress situations. 
  • Troubleshoots and problem-solves site situations (material quality, equipment operation/repair, etc.) and discusses production issues with managers, supervisors, and co-workers. 
  • Ensures strict compliance with safety and environmental regulations (including OSHA, EPA, and state/federal regulatory bodies). 
  • Prioritizes safety at all times, taking immediate action to prevent unsafe processes, actions, or behaviors. 

 

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Strong organizational and project tracking skills. 
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook). 
  • Ability to work independently and perform effectively under tight time constraints.
