Description
Our client is seeking a Senior Property Accountant to take full ownership of financial reporting and the month-end close process for a commercial real estate portfolio. This is a hands-on, high-impact role designed for someone who understands property accounting beyond task execution—someone who can think critically, work independently, and maintain clean, audit-ready financials across multiple entities.
What You’ll Be Doing
Lead full-cycle month-end close for an assigned portfolio of properties
Perform bank, loan, and intercompany (due-to/due-from) reconciliations
Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals, reclasses, and prepaid amortization
Maintain depreciation schedules and track work-in-progress (WIP)
Conduct detailed General Ledger (GL) reviews and variance analysis
Ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of financial reporting
Partner with asset management and operations teams to investigate and resolve discrepancies
What You Must Have
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required
Yardi experience
3–5+ years of property accounting experience (commercial real estate preferred)
Proven ability to independently manage full-cycle month-end close
Strong understanding of debits, credits, and journal entries
Hands-on experience with:
Bank and loan reconciliations
Intercompany accounting
Accruals, prepaids, and depreciation
Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, basic financial analysis)
Why Join the Team
This is not a plug-and-play accounting role. You’ll be trusted to take ownership, think critically about financials, and operate with minimal oversight. If you’re looking for a position where your judgment and expertise truly matter, this role offers both autonomy and impact within a fast-paced environment.
Who Will Excel in This Role
Professionals who have managed multiple properties or entities simultaneously
Self-starters who can identify and resolve accounting discrepancies without constant direction
Individuals with a strong sense of ownership and accountability
Those who thrive in deadline-driven environments and maintain high attention to detail under pressure
Salary & Perks
Salary range: $95,000 – $105,000 (based on experience)
