Our company is seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Senior Property Accountant to join our growing team. This permanent, full-time position is an exciting opportunity for a professional with a background in accounting and finance, particularly within the property sector. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of CAM Recs, NNN leases, CAMs, CAM reconciliations, retail, and shopping center financials. This role requires a minimum of 5 years of experience and at least 3 years of financial experience in a similar role.
Responsibilities:
As a Senior Property Accountant, your primary responsibilities will include:
1. Overseeing and managing all aspects of property accounting for a portfolio of retail properties.
2. Performing CAM reconciliations and NNN lease reviews, ensuring accuracy and compliance with lease agreements.
3. Preparing and analyzing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
4. Monitoring and managing the cash flow of the properties, including the preparation of budgets and forecasts.
5. Coordinating with the property management team to ensure accurate and timely reporting of property financials.
6. Assisting with the preparation of year-end audit and tax return work papers.
7. Participating in the implementation of new accounting policies and procedures to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the accounting department.
8. Liaising with external auditors, tax consultants, and regulatory authorities as required.
Qualifications:
The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications:
1. A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
2. A minimum of 5 years of experience in property accounting, with at least 3 years in a financial role.
3. Proficiency in CAM Recs, NNN leases, CAMs, and CAM reconciliations.
4. Experience in the retail and shopping center sectors.
5. Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
6. Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
7. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with team members at all levels of the organization.
8. High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, and experience with accounting software.
9. Ability to prioritize tasks, work under pressure, and meet strict deadlines.
10. Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy in preparing and entering financial information.
11. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation is preferred but not required.
