Job Description Senior QA Consultant – Payment & Debit Systems (Contract) Location: 100% Remote (U.S.-Based, Eastern Time Zone Preferred) Contract Duration: Mid-July 2026 through Q1 2027 (Project-Based) About the Opportunity We are seeking an experienced Senior QA Consultant to support a high-profile Fuel Pre-Authorization initiative in partnership with Visa. This consultant will serve as a specialized QA resource embedded within our client's team, helping enhance and validate the ISO 8583 0120 transaction process for Automated Fuel Dispensers (AFDs). The primary objective of this project is to ensure pre-authorization amounts can be dynamically updated to reflect actual transaction amounts in near real time, fully aligning with Visa's production-ready confirmation advice. This is a 100% remote, U.S.-based contract role, with a preference for candidates who can work within the Eastern Time Zone. Key Responsibilities
Collaborate with client stakeholders to review, refine, and validate project requirements while providing expertise in debit card payment processing.
Design, develop, and execute comprehensive test strategies, test plans, and detailed test cases for the enhanced ISO 8583 0120 transaction processing flow.
Validate real-time pre-authorization updates, transaction completion, and reversal scenarios to ensure end-to-end system accuracy.
Utilize Lexcel (FIS simulation tool) to simulate debit card transactions, verify message formats, and identify processing anomalies.
Support development and QA activities throughout a phased implementation, ensuring seamless alignment with Visa's deployment schedule.
Identify, document, prioritize, and track defects, partnering closely with development teams to troubleshoot issues and validate fixes.
Participate in functional, integration, regression, and end-to-end testing to ensure production readiness.
Maintain clear test documentation and provide regular status updates to both client and internal project teams.
Required Qualifications
Minimum 8+ years of professional software testing experience, with significant expertise in the Debit Card and Payment Processing domain.
Proven hands-on experience with Lexcel (FIS simulation tool) (required).
Strong understanding of ISO 8583 financial messaging, specifically 0120 transaction processing.
Experience testing Point-of-Sale (POS) payment systems and Automated Fuel Dispenser (AFD) pre-authorization workflows.
Solid understanding of debit transaction life cycles, authorization, completion, reversals, and settlement processes.
Demonstrated experience working directly with client teams in a consulting or staff augmentation capacity.
Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and documentation skills.
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, collaborative, and client-facing environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working on Visa payment processing initiatives or Visa network integrations.
