RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under general supervision and with broad scope for independent judgment, the selected candidate will be responsible for developing, coordinating, maintaining, testing, and troubleshooting procedures and project documentation that support the Central Electronics Shop Floor in the post‑warranty support of various electronic systems. These systems include, but are not limited to, Subway Cars, Communication‑Based Train Control (CBTC), Automatic Fare Collection (AFC), Communications, and Bus Electronics.

The candidate will develop and execute test plans, procedures, and bills of materials for the acceptance and maintenance of these systems. They will coordinate and manage documentation from initial creation through completion, including updates after the process is finished. Additional responsibilities include performing failure analyses, generating detailed reports, liaising with in‑house maintenance groups and user departments, and providing technical support, training, and knowledge transfer to operations staff as required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Senior Quality Control Specialist I-III

  1. A bachelor's degree in engineering, industrial technology, or a related field from an accredited college or university and six years of full-time paid professional experience in quality control including the application of probability and statistics; statistical quality control; experiment design; planning; basic reliability concepts; quality data collection; quality auditing; and/or systems development with quality control programs; or

  2. At least 60 credits from an accredited college or university or technical school with specialization in engineering technology or a related field and eight years of the experience described in "1" above; or

  3. A satisfactory equivalent. However, all candidates must have at least 60 credits from an accredited college, university or technical school with specialization in engineering technology or a related field.

DESIRED SKILLS:

  • Knowledge of electronic system principles, software, and concepts such as analog‑to‑digital and digital‑to‑analog conversion, digital control systems, configuration management, and change management.
  • Proficient use of Office software, document conversion tools, and CAD applications.
  • Ability to create, update, interpret, and redline test procedures, schematics, drawings, and bills of materials, as well as manage project documentation.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with both technical and business staff.
  • Ability to coordinate, schedule, and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
