    Description

    About the role

We are seeking a Senior Reliability Engineer to lead the development and qualification of reliability tests for Niron magnets. This role will focus on mechanical, thermal, and corrosion testing informed by ASTM standards, ensuring product durability and performance across diverse applications. The ideal candidate will coordinate the execution of the reliability control plan, working closely with cross-functional teams including the engineering and commercial teams. This position requires a hands-on approach in the lab, strong communication skills, and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.

    What you'll do:

    • Reliability Test Development & Qualification: Develop and qualify reliability test protocols for Niron magnets, including mechanical, thermal, and corrosion testing aligned with ASTM standards.
    • Reliability control plan ownership: Coordinate and continuously improve Niron’s reliability control plan to support R&D screening, process qualification, customer validation, and quality inspections; ensure test method validation, sampling strategy, and lot definition are clear and auditable
    • Statistical Analysis & Modeling: Perform statistical analysis of reliability test data using tools such as JMP or Minitab to identify trends, failure modes, and opportunities for improvement.
    • DfR Application & Methodology: Apply Design for Reliability (DfR) principles to guide product development and ensure robust performance.
    • Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate with R&D, engineering, commercial, and quality teams to support FMEA activities, failure analysis, root cause investigations, CAPA implementation, and development of control plans and PPAP documentation to meet automotive and industry standards.
    • Document and communicate findings clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
    • Lab Execution & Stewardship: Maintain a hands-on presence in the lab, ensuring accurate test execution and troubleshooting as needed.

    What we're looking for:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
    • 5+ years of experience in reliability engineering, quality engineering, or related roles.
    • Strong knowledge of ASTM standards and reliability testing methodologies.
    • Proven statistical analysis skills, including experience with reliability modeling and data interpretation using JMP, Minitab, or similar tools.
    • Experience with Design for Reliability (DfR) principles and tools.
    • Working knowledge of quality tools and systems, including PPAP, control plans, and FMEA.
    • Proven ability to work cross-functionally and manage multiple priorities.
    • Excellent communication and documentation skills.
    • Comfortable working hands-on in a lab environment.

    Nice to have:

    • Quality engineering experience.
    • Six Sigma certification (Green Belt or higher) or equivalent experience in structured problem-solving.
    • Prior experience with Tier 1 Automotive companies or similar high-reliability industries.
    • Familiarity with magnetics or advanced materials.

    Our pay and benefits:

    • Salary: $110,000 - $135,000 annually, depending on education, experience and skills
    • Equity position in Niron via stock option grant
    • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance
    • Mental healthcare benefits
    • 401k plan with 6% company match
    • Paid time off to take time for what you need in life
    • Experience in a fun, high-performing, manufacturing environment set to change the world
