Exciting Opportunity at MSK: Senior Quality & Safety Manager – Patient Safety

Join Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center's Department of Quality & Safety and help advance a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement across one of the nation's leading cancer centers. The Senior Quality & Safety Manager partners with clinical and operational leaders to improve patient safety outcomes through safety event review, performance improvement, regulatory compliance, and high reliability practices.

Role Overview

  • Lead investigations and analysis of patient safety events and quality concerns, analyze data to identify improvement opportunities, and partner with multidisciplinary teams to implement and evaluate corrective actions and measures of effectiveness.

  • Facilitate Root Cause Analyses (RCAs), Apparent Cause Analyses (ACAs), Failure Mode and Effects Analyses (FMEA), safety huddles, and debriefs for serious patient safety events.

  • Partner with clinical and operational leadership to identify risks, implement corrective actions, and measure the effectiveness of improvement strategies.

  • Promote High Reliability Organization (HRO) principles, Just Culture, and patient safety best practices through education, collaboration, and coaching.

  • Coordinate regulatory reporting activities and support compliance with agencies such as Joint Commission (JC), CMS, the Department of Health (NYPORTS and NJ PSRS).

Key Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a healthcare-related field, Master's degree preferred.

  • 7+ years of recent experience in a clinical, quality, patient safety, or performance improvement setting.

  • Clinical licensure and familiarity with Epic strongly preferred.

  • Working knowledge of patient safety regulations, accreditation standards, and regulatory reporting requirements.

  • Experience leading or facilitating Root Cause Analyses (RCA), Apparent Cause Analyses, FMEA, or other patient safety methodologies preferred.

  • Expertise in High Reliability Organization (HRO) principles, change management, and continuous improvement methodologies preferred.

  • Experience in Press Ganey HPI Safety Event Classification is preferred.

  • CPHQ or CPPS certification are a plus.

  • Excellent judgment, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.

  • Strong data analysis and interpretive skills, with the ability to identify trends, measure outcomes, and translate findings into actionable improvement strategies.

  • Ability to manage sensitive situations diplomatically and maintain confidentiality.

  • Advanced Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite

  • Location: Hybrid / 633 Third Avenue, NYC

  • Schedule: Monday- Friday, 9:00 am- 5:00 pm

  • Reporting to: Associate Director, Quality & Safety
