Senior R&D Engineer- Medical Device- Hudson, MA

The Senior R&D Engineer will play a key role in designing and developing advanced catheter systems for use in the life science industry. This role involves collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful development of innovative and high-quality products.

Description

• Lead the design and development of catheter components and subsystems
• Drive new product development activities from concept through commercialization
• Create and maintain engineering documentation including drawings, protocols, reports, and procedures
• Develop, evaluate, and optimize manufacturing processes
• Design and execute test methods, verification protocols, and design of experiments (DOE)
• Perform data analysis and provide statistical evaluations to support product development decisions
• Build prototypes, fixtures, and assemblies for development testing
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Manufacturing, Quality, Clinical, and Regulatory teams
• Partner with external suppliers and vendors to support development efforts
• Support transfer of products and processes from R&D into manufacturing environments

Profile

A successful Senior R&D Engineer should have:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a related technical discipline
• 5+ years of medical device product development experience
• 3+ years of catheter development experience
• Proven success bringing products from concept through commercialization
• Strong understanding of catheter manufacturing processes including UV bonding, solvent bonding, extrusion, reflow, injection molding, swaging, tipping, machining, or additive manufacturing
• Experience working with catheter materials such as Pebax, PTFE, FEP, PEEK, Nylon, Nitinol, and stainless steel
• Proficiency with SolidWorks and 3D CAD design
• Experience with statistical analysis and design verification activities
• Strong technical communication and documentation skills
• Working knowledge of medical device quality systems and regulatory requirements
