Senior Radiologic Technologist (Senior Rad Tech)

We are seeking a dynamic, detail-oriented Senior Radiologic Technologist to join our award-winning healthcare team. In this pivotal leadership role, you will combine top-tier clinical expertise with essential administrative oversight. You will perform routine and advanced diagnostic imaging, assist radiologists, and guide daily department operations—including scheduling, payroll, and supply management. Acting as a mentor and preceptor, you will ensure our high "standards of care" and radiation protection protocols are met across all patient populations. Duties & Responsibilities

Clinical Excellence & Patient Care

  • Advanced Diagnostic Imaging: Perform routine and specialized medical radiographic images with technical precision, adjusting protocols based on the age, physical, and psychosocial needs of neonate, pediatric, adult, and geriatric patient populations.

  • Patient Advocacy & Education: Introduce yourself to and educate each patient or family member regarding their examination, ensuring correct positioning and absolute comfort.

  • Radiation Safety: Strictly apply principles of radiation protection to minimize exposure to patients, self, and the team. Actively uphold the Image Gently and Image Wisely pledges.

  • Clinical Collaboration: Assist physicians and radiologists during procedures, present images for review, communicate critical findings ("wet readings") to attending physicians, and meticulously document all communications.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Leadership & Operational Oversight

  • Daily Flow Management: Take charge of daily patient flow, assign tasks, and ensure the department runs efficiently and safely.

  • Administrative Administration: Prepare staff schedules, maintain timesheets, manage payroll entry, and oversee inventory control by ordering necessary clinical supplies.

  • Quality Assurance & Maintenance: Perform equipment quality assurance checks, coordinate calibrations, maintain clean work areas, and promptly report any equipment malfunctions to Biomedical engineering or supervisors.

  • Mentorship: Serve as an inspiring instructor or preceptor to guide, train, and support fellow staff technologists and students.

  • Technical Systems: Utilize Meditech, hospital RIS, and PACS digital X-ray systems to check previous reports, document requests, process images, and print CDs when needed.

  • Department Adaptability: Remain available for emergency procedures, on-call rotation, holidays, overtime, or shift coverage as required to maintain safe departmental operations.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Graduate of an allied health education and accredited radiography school, or an approved hospital-based program.

  • Licensure & Credentials: * Valid New York State Department of Health (NYS DOH) Radiologic Technologist Licensure or Limited Permit.

    • Active registration through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists—ARRT(RT) and RT(R).

  • Certifications: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA), or must be successfully completed within 90 days of hire.

  • Continuing Education: Commitment to upholding governing body standards by maintaining 24 ECE credits over a two-year period (based on birth year).

  • Radiation Safety Pledge: Commitment to completing the Image Gently and Image Wisely dose pledges through the American College of Radiology (ACR) before the end of the probationary period.

Location and Work Type

  • Work Type: Full-Time, Direct Hire Permanent Position.

  • Shift Information: Highly desirable Day Shift schedule: Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 8:00 AM to 9:00 PM (3 x 12-hour shifts offering excellent mid-week flexibility).

  • Work Setting: On-site acute and ambulatory care settings.
