Today, we are looking for an experienced Senior Rail Engineer to join us on an international expatriate assignment supporting some of the most exciting rail and high-speed rail developments currently underway in the United States.

Your Impact

As a Senior Rail Engineer, you will play a key leadership role in the planning, design, coordination, and delivery of railway infrastructure projects, with a particular focus on track and trackwork systems.

You will provide technical leadership throughout the full project lifecycle, supporting projects from conceptual design through construction, testing, commissioning, and handover.

The position combines engineering expertise, project delivery, stakeholder engagement, and field support, requiring regular interaction with contractors, clients, suppliers, and construction teams.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the Engineering

• Lead the design and technical delivery of railway track and trackwork systems for High-Speed Rail, Passenger Rail, Freight Rail, Metro, and Urban Transit projects.

• Oversee track alignments, rail geometry, turnouts, crossovers, depot layouts, yard configurations, and special trackwork.

• Review engineering calculations, specifications, technical reports, construction documentation, and design deliverables.

• Ensure compliance with project requirements, operational needs, maintainability objectives, AREMA standards, EN standards, and applicable railway regulations.

• Provide technical leadership and expert guidance during both design and construction phases.

Support Construction Delivery

• Participate in construction planning, track installation reviews, constructability assessments, and technical problem solving.

• Support testing and commissioning activities.

• Review contractor submissions, inspection plans, and technical documentation.

• Perform site inspections and resolve engineering issues during construction.

• Monitor quality, safety, and compliance throughout project execution.

Lead and Collaborate

• Mentor and support multidisciplinary engineering teams.

• Coordinate with civil, structural, systems, operations, and construction specialists.

• Engage directly with clients, contractors, railway operators, and regulatory agencies.

• Contribute to project planning, risk management, schedule control, and technical proposals.

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Railway Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or a related discipline.

• 10+ years of railway engineering experience.

• Demonstrated experience supporting major High-Speed Rail projects (300 km/h+ / 186 mph+).

• Strong experience in railway track design and trackwork systems.

• Experience supporting projects through design, construction, testing, and commissioning.

• Deep understanding of railway alignment design, track geometry, operational requirements, and rail systems integration.

• Strong familiarity with AREMA standards and international rail standards.

• Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.

• Willingness to relocate to the United States under an expatriate assignment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's Degree in Railway Engineering or related field.

• Professional Engineer (PE), Chartered Engineer (CEng), or equivalent accreditation.

• Experience in Design-Build, EPC, or large-scale railway infrastructure programs.

• Experience with ballast track, slab track, depots, yards, switches, turnouts, and special trackwork.

• Experience using railway design, alignment, BIM, and CAD tools.
