Job Description

Role Summary: We are seeking an experienced Senior Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) Engineer to safeguard homeland security missions by leading the deployment, automation, and management of Red Hat OpenShift clusters in secure environments. This role focuses heavily on high availability, security compliance, transitioning operations to disconnected environments, and developing automation scripts for system provisioning and zero-downtime deployments.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Architect and deploy containerized applications using Red Hat OpenShift to ensure optimal performance and scalability.
  • Implement and optimize monitoring and logging tools, such as Prometheus, Loki, and Grafana, for real-time application health tracking.
  • Transition OpenShift cluster operations from connected to partially disconnected environments while ensuring seamless deployment of critical security updates.
  • Automate cluster provisioning and scaling to reduce deployment times and minimize human error.
  • Manage and optimize multi-cluster OpenShift environments across production and development clusters to maintain 99.99% uptime.
  • Conduct knowledge-sharing sessions and update documentation to improve team expertise in Red Hat Advanced Cluster Manager and Kubernetes management.
  • Integrate Red Hat Satellite for efficient patch management and system updates across multiple environments.
  • Develop and implement disaster recovery plans and robust backup strategies for critical systems.
  • Configure and manage essential network services, including DNS, DHCP, and NFS, within RHEL environments.
  • Perform kernel tuning and system optimization to enhance overall performance and reliability.
  • Implement and manage security policies utilizing SELinux and advanced firewall configurations.
  • Conduct comprehensive root cause analyses for system failures and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Implement and manage cloud security best practices, including identity and access management (IAM), encryption, and network security.
  • Monitor and optimize resource usage to ensure cost efficiency and high performance.
  • Develop and maintain continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines for automated application testing and deployment.
Requirements & Qualifications:
  • Clearance: Must possess an active Secret Clearance.
  • Experience: Minimum of 10 to 12 years of overall IT engineering experience.
  • RHEL Expertise: Minimum of 7 years of direct experience working with RHEL, demonstrating clear career progression.
  • Containerization: Minimum of 4 years of hands-on OpenShift experience.
  • Methodologies: Demonstrated focus on system integrations and DevOps methodologies.
  • Communication: Native or bilingual proficiency in English.
  • Availability: Candidates must reside within a commutable distance for daily on-site work and participate in a rotational on-call schedule.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Recent experience operating under the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and Red Hat certifications such as RHCE, Red Hat Certified OpenShift Administrator, or RHCSA.
