This role is responsible for improving equipment reliability, reducing unplanned downtime, and driving a culture of continuous improvement. The Senior Reliability Engineer will utilize data-driven methods and cross-functional collaboration to optimize asset performance, support plant safety and compliance, and enhance overall operational efficiency. This role works out of our Duneland facility and reports directly to the Director - Global Maintenance.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead or support root cause investigations for equipment and process failures. Apply structured problem-solving methods such as 5 Whys, Fishbone, and Fault Tree Analysis to identify and eliminate chronic issues.
Evaluate existing maintenance strategies and implement condition-based or predictive technologies (vibration, infrared, ultrasound, oil analysis) to improve uptime and reduce maintenance costs.
Track and analyze reliability metrics (e.g., MTBF, MTTR, OEE, downtime). Develop performance dashboards and reports using data from CMMS, SCADA, or plant historians.
Facilitate or participate in RCM, Failure Modes and Effects Analysis, and criticality assessments to optimize maintenance plans and ensure asset integrity.
Collaborate with engineering and project teams to ensure reliability is designed into new systems. Provide input on equipment selection, specifications, and commissioning practices.
Oversee proper implementation of lubrication strategies and precision maintenance practices to extend asset life and improve equipment performance.
Work with maintenance planning and supply chain to evaluate spare parts usage, identify critical spares, and ensure accurate asset data and task standardization in the CMMS.
Lead or support Kaizen events, TPM efforts, and Six Sigma projects to enhance reliability and efficiency across the plant.
Support the development of a reliability-focused culture by training operations and maintenance teams on reliability principles and proactive maintenance strategies.
