An opportunity for an experienced Renewable Energy Engineer to join an organisation delivering heating and renewable energy services within the social housing sector. The position will strengthen its renewables team and provide experienced technical support to engineers developing their knowledge of renewable systems.
As a Renewable Energy Engineer you will service, maintain and repair renewable energy systems, including air source heat pumps, ground source heat pumps, mechanical ventilation with heat recovery, exhaust air heat pumps and solar systems.
You will conduct site assessments, identify technical faults and recommend improvements to system performance. You will also provide customers with guidance on operating and maintaining their renewable energy systems.
Working alongside the wider engineering team, you will help develop effective technical solutions, support engineers who are developing their renewables experience and ensure all work meets relevant industry regulations and safety standards.
Candidates who are not yet operating at a senior level may still be considered where they have a strong relevant background, good technical ability and the potential to develop.
The role will cover Reading and the surrounding area, with some geographical flexibility available.
To be considered for this role, you must have:
Relevant practical trade experience
An established technical background in at least one of the following: air source heat pumps, ground source heat pumps, refrigeration or F-gas systems, ventilation systems, or exhaust air and mechanical ventilation systems
Valid ACS qualifications and other relevant gas qualifications
A full UK driving licence with fewer than six points
The ability to cover Reading and the surrounding area

Service, maintain and repair renewable energy systems
Conduct site assessments and audits to evaluate system efficiency
Diagnose and resolve technical issues to minimise disruption to customers
Recommend improvements to system performance
Provide customers with guidance on operating and maintaining their renewable energy systems
Provide technical support to engineers developing their renewables knowledge
Work with the wider engineering team to develop effective system improvements
Ensure compliance with relevant industry regulations and safety standards
Maintain accurate records of service activity and system performance
Strong technical knowledge of renewable heating or ventilation systems
Excellent fault-finding and problem-solving abilities
A strong interest in renewable technology and continued learning
Experience delivering high levels of customer service
The ability to work effectively with a diverse customer base
The ability to work independently and alongside the wider engineering team
Experience working within social housing is desirable but not essential.
