Job Description :

The New York Post provides readers with the best in News, Sports, Pop Culture and Entertainment - with signature wit, irreverence and authority. Over the past 225 years, The Post has evolved into a multi-platform media company spanning print, digital, video, audio, app, television and commerce.

The New York Post's Lifestyle team is seeking a sharp, plugged-in Senior Reporter, Fashion and Retail (Sunday-Thursday) who will drive coverage of the biggest and most relevant fashion and retail stories in New York and beyond. This reporter will be completely plugged into the fashion and retail landscape in the country - and most importantly how that translates into reporting that people want to read, at scale. They will want to drive traffic as much as they want to lift the lid on the most interesting store openings and closings, trend explosions and characters at the heart of the culture.

The successful candidate will also know how to break the stories that everyone wants to read, as well as identify viral trends, and write them fast - and with flair. They will also be full of ideas about how to expand their storytelling into newsletters, videos and audio. If you thrive in a high-speed newsroom and have a sixth sense for what will make readers click, we want to hear from you.

Note: The shift for this role is Sunday-Thursday, 8am-4pm EST.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver daily news lists, with a mix of original and breaking news stories

  • Deliver sharp, engaging copy quickly and accurately under tight deadlines

  • Consistently pitch and execute stories that are timely, clickable, and aligned with the Post's voice

  • Work with editors and photo/video teams to secure impactful visuals that elevate storytelling

  • Stay ahead of digital trends and emerging platforms to ensure fresh, forward-thinking content

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 7-10 years' experience as a fashion or retail correspondent or reporter, at a magazine or news publication

  • Excellent news judgement, strong reporting skills and the ability to identify important and high trafficking stories before they break or pop, and pitch original stories

  • A vast network of contacts in the industry

  • Proven ability to break stories and generate talking points

  • Ability to find fresh and compelling ways into trending fashion lifestyle stories that fit The Post brand

  • A smart, lively writing style

  • Proficiency in WordPress or similar CMS, Photoshop and web analytics preferred

  • Some flexibility in scheduling, especially during awards and special events

Note: The New York Post adheres to an on-site work model. This role will be expected to report into the office 5 days per week.
