Senior Reporter

KAKE News has an immediate opening for an experienced, enterprising Senior Reporter. The successful candidate will have big shoes to fill. This team has a history of producing award-winning and policy-changing content.

PRIMARY DUTIES:

• Enterprise, develop, write and present content as assigned for newscasts, specials. special projects on any platform.
• Research and produce in-depth, original, or long-form investigative stories, often using FOIA requests and data-driven reporting.
• Provide guidance, feedback, and editorial leadership to junior reporters.
• Aggressively Pursue Breaking News
• Perform active live shots in the field or studio as assigned
• Look for points of difference in storytelling
• Support and champion the KAKE News Brand
• Be able to post video and stories on web and mobile platforms
• Drive and operate station vehicles
• Travel long distances in the execution of assigned duties
• Be available on-call as assigned
• Ability to shoot & edit stories a plus

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

• At least 7 years' experience as a reporter
• College degree in broadcast journalism
• Ability to work independently with excellent editorial judgment
• Deep understanding of journalistic ethics, media law, and accuracy
• Aggressive and competitive qualities with an overriding sense of good journalism, and fair reporting
• Have a valid driver's license
