Job Overview

This position is onsite in Harrisburg, PA

TE Connectivity's Corporate Technology Center is seeking a highly motivated Senior R&D Engineer - Advanced Manufacturing & Precision Engineering to help accelerate innovation and prototype realization across TE's global business units.

This role will bridge product design, advanced manufacturing, and rapid prototyping, helping transform concepts into functional prototypes and scalable manufacturing solutions. The successful candidate will work closely with multidisciplinary teams specializing in materials, metallization, joining technologies, additive manufacturing, simulation, and engineering services while expanding TE's in-house prototyping capabilities and introducing new manufacturing technologies. The position will also support EPICenter's global rapid prototyping services and engineering development efforts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with TE Business Units to develop and realize prototype and manufacturing solutions for new product development programs.
  • Design mechanical components, fixtures, tooling, and manufacturing concepts using DFM, DFA, and DfAM principles.
  • Lead evaluation and implementation of advanced manufacturing technologies, including precision machining, forming, tooling, overmolding, assembly, and additive manufacturing.
  • Expand and enhance EPICenter rapid prototyping capabilities by identifying new processes, equipment, and supplier partnerships.
  • Conduct feasibility studies, proof-of-concept trials, and process development activities to improve speed, quality, and cost effectiveness.
  • Drive experimental design, process optimization, and root-cause investigations related to manufacturing and product realization challenges.
  • Scout emerging technologies and develop relationships with external manufacturing partners, universities, and research organizations.
  • Explore the application of AI, generative design, simulation, and digital engineering tools to accelerate product and process development.

What Your Background Should Look Like

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related discipline; Master's degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in product development, manufacturing engineering, advanced manufacturing, tooling, or precision engineering.
  • Strong experience with CAD design and engineering development of products, tooling, fixtures, or manufacturing systems.
  • Hands-on knowledge of manufacturing processes such as CNC machining, metal forming, tooling, molding/overmolding, assembly, laser processing and additive manufacturing.
  • Experience applying DFM, GD&T, tolerance analysis, and engineering problem-solving methodologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to move projects from concept through prototype realization and manufacturing implementation.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across business units and global teams.

Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in connector, sensor, semiconductors, electronics, or electromechanical product development.
  • Knowledge of Signal Integrity and Optics is a bonus.
  • Knowledge of precision manufacturing, micro-fabrication, or high-tolerance processes.
