About the Role:

 As Senior Research Analyst - North American Power and Carbon Markets, you will lead the research and analysis of regional power market supply, demand, and price dynamics across North America. You will monitor and interpret market regulations, with a particular focus on cap-and-invest programmes in California, Washington and Quebec, as well as RGGI, while supporting the potential expansion of coverage into additional global markets. You will report to the Research and Analysis Associate Director.

You Will:

  • Develop country and regional power market supply-demand balances, fundamental market models, and price outlooks to 2060

  • Monitor regulatory, policy, and market developments across North American power and carbon markets, producing timely analysis and thought leadership to help customers understand market impacts and emerging trends

  • Build and maintain datasets and analytical models covering power and carbon compliance markets, delivering insights into market activity, emissions, pricing, and other key metrics

  • Collaborate with the editorial team to monitor market developments and contribute insights from a research perspective

  • Represent the company at industry and partner events, webinars, and client engagements by delivering presentations and sharing market insights

  • Support Business Development and Sales teams by providing market expertise and promoting services to clients and stakeholders

  • Support the design and preparation of content delivery tools 

You Have:

  • At least 5 years’ relevant experience 

  • A strong understanding of North American power markets, including market structures, pricing mechanisms, and the regulatory frameworks governing the U.S. and Canadian energy sectors

  • A solid knowledge of North American carbon markets, with a focus on cap-and-invest programs in California, Washington, and Quebec, as well as RGGI, and their impact on power market dynamics

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office essential  

  • Ability to clearly communicate complex content to technical and non-technical audiences 

  • Familiarity with Python, Power BI (a plus)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Engineering, Mathematics, Law, Politics, or the Sciences (preferred) -OR- equivalent work experience

Base Pay Range: $90,000 - $110,000
