Job Description

The Senior Research Data Analyst will support departments within Research and Economic Development to improve decision making, facilitate continuous improvement of processes and programs, and to maximize impact in the region. By understanding the generated data from the different processes at RED and by deriving insights the Senior Data Analyst will help create efficiencies, maximize project outcomes and facilitate integrated grant reporting and progress reports. The full salary range for the Senior Research Data Analyst is $84,100.00 - $154,700.00 annually. However, the budgeted salary range for this position is up to $119,400.00. We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs. Applicants must have current work authorization when accepting a UCR staff position. Currently, we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa for staff. As a University employee, you will be required to comply with all applicable University policies and/or collective bargaining agreements, as may be amended from time to time. Federal, state, or local government directives may impose additional requirements.\n \nConsults with end users to gather and clarify data and reporting needs for complex business intelligence solutions and analytics. Writes queries, develops report templates, and dashboards.Performs predictive analysis and forecasting to provide information that supports organizational goals. Mines data to quantify relationships and identify issues warranting further analysis.Serves on internal committees and participates on cross-functional teams to solve business, process, service and/systems issues.Supports team members with systems administration tasks, Kuali Build workflow creation and maintenance, website updates, and documentation efforts. Collaborates across the team to ensure systems run efficiently, workflows are optimized, and resources remain accurate and up to date.Conducts on-going analyses of data sources and data sets. Identifies issues and collaborates on developing solutions to data management challenges.Identifies and analyzes errors and problems for end users, developing and applying functional solutions and/or conducting specific training as needed.Participates in developing and/or delivering curriculum for end user training to ensure user competence, data access, and optimal performance of BI tools and processes.\n \nThorough knowledge of business intelligence functions, analytics, industry standards and best practices.Thorough knowledge of relevant internal databases, BI applications and tools. Ability to produce high-quality reports and documentation.Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills to manage complex information, assess problems, and develop and effective solutions.Detail oriented, with ability to manage time and organize competing priorities.Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey complex information in a clear, concise manner.Strong interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with a broad range of professional and technical staff.Proven ability to serve as a technical resource providing advice and counsel on business intelligence issues.Proficiency in data manipulation languages, including MS SQL, Oracle Database, or PostgreSQL.Experience using data analytics and reporting tools such as PowerBI, SAP business objects, Excel, Tableu, Looker etc.Ability to work under pressure in ambiguous situations.Basic understanding of domain business processes such as grant tracking and reporting, program management reporting, ERP (enterprise resources and planning), performance measurement and metrics development.Proficiency with a diversity of specialized databases, including UCOP databases, SBDC Neoserra, Wellspring Sophia and BASECAMP\n \nThorough knowledge of business intelligence functions, analytics, industry standards and best practices. Detail oriented, with ability to manage time and organize competing priorities. Proficiency in data manipulation languages, including MS SQL, Oracle Database, or PostgreSQL.
