About the job

The GenMedia Safety team develops the data and algorithmic solutions that define the safety and fairness behavior of GDM's latest image and video generation models. In this role, you will build and deploy innovations that directly impact millions of users. This is a collaborative role focused on delivering effective outcomes across our internal and external platforms.

Artificial Intelligence could be one of humanity's most useful inventions. We use our technologies for widespread public benefit and scientific discovery, and collaborate with others on critical issues, ensuring safety and ethics are the priority.

You will be comfortable both with designing approaches to new research questions and executing the technical implementation of research ideas. You will have the opportunity to work directly on Nano Banana (GDM"s core image generation capability), OMNI (GDM"s core video generation capability), and successor GenMedia models. We drive the development of the foundational technology adopted by numerous product areas including Gemini App, Cloud API, Search, and YouTube.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

US: $174,000 - $252,000 (USD) + 15% bonus target + equity + benefits

Responsibilities

  • Develop solutions for GenMedia models that balance user experience, safety, and scalability.

  • Utilize data and algorithmic reasoning to ensure image-generation models remain safe, and helpful.

  • Collaborate with policy experts to convert, ambiguous safety guidelines into actionable technical implementations.

  • Design and maintain protocols to identify and bridge gaps in model safety.

  • Execute experiments to inform safety strategies while innovating rapid, scalable mitigations for high-priority, time-sensitive escalations.
