Job Summary:
SUNY Upstate Pharmacology Team is in search of a Senior Research Support Specialist who will Under general supervision of the Lab''s PI, perform and support laboratory experiments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a growing laboratory in the Pharmacology Department.
- Create a productive and collegial laboratory environment.
- Maintain laboratory reagents (stock solutions), supplies, ordering, interactions with vendors, general lab management including institutional and regulatory protocols, maintain animal colony.
- Spanning from molecular cloning and sequencing to assessing mRNA/protein expression and localization, cell culture and histology.
- In vivo recordings of brain and heart electrical activity.
- Mentoring and assisting graduate students and postdoctoral fellows with their projects particularly troubleshooting experiments.
- Provide oversight and maintenance of departmental equipment.
- Maintain a detailed laboratory notebook.
- Keep detailed records of purchases/deliveries.
- Build financial reports of all personnel, supplies, equipment, sub-award charges for each grant/account.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor''s Degree or higher in a scientific discipline required.
Must have research laboratory experience, specifically in animal handling, husbandry, and colony maintenance.
Must also be proficient using MS-Office and have excellent communication skills.
